NPD analyst MatPiscatella was kind enough to share the best selling games for the PS4, XB1 and Vita in the US earlier this week. You can read that thread here-
https://www.resetera.com/threads/np...old-on-playstation-4-xbox-one-and-vita.78720/

We now have new data which shows the top 10 best selling games (by revenue) for legacy consoles including Sony's PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast.

Note.
Sales tracking begins in January 1995 and the top 10 is ranked on dollar sales, not unit sales.
NPD tracks physical and digital video game sales in the U.S.

Thanks for the lists! Surprised at sports titles on Dreamcast and Crash topping PS1.

Given what Mario Kart sells like these days, seeing Goldeneye above it for the 64 is insane to me. I knew it was popular obviously, but wow.

And all those sports titles for the Dreamcast. If only EA had supported the system :(

Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel showing up in that GBC list like a guy photobombing a family photo.

And yet people were skeptical about Crash Remastered Trilogy success. They didn't remember how BIG Crash was back then.

Yeah, 2 things to note. Crash has 3 titles in the top 10. Never realised it was that popular.
Also Goldeneye above Kart and Zelda is just insanity.

The PlayStation One era. Back when Driver 1 and Driver 2 sold more than double GTA1 and GTA 2.

Looking at that ps1 list and thinking about the classic announced...

What a bad list did they couple with the psx classic mini

I'm a little surprised football games take the top spots on the Sega consoles. It was huge on the Genesis and I guess these charts show that audience stuck with Sega, at least to some extent.

Dreamcast with a shit ton of Sports games is surprising

Even as someone who is not a sports fan, not really. NFL2K was indeed a quantum leap over anything that came before it, and not just in terms of graphics. It also got raving critical praise and a ton of word of mouth, as well as the Sega Sports special edition console which surely attracted a ton of hardcore sports game fans. Besides Soul Calibur, I don't know that anything else got that much word of mouth and praise at the time. I don't really remember NBA2K being as well hyped or received, but it's not really surprising either.

Edit: Also, after the Saturn had relatively biffed in terms of sports games in comparison to the Genesis, the DC was a return to form for them. In its short life, it had not only the 2K games but a bunch of other stuff like Virtua Tennis, Virtua Striker, NFL Blitz, Tony Hawk, NBA Showtime, etc.

Yugioh DDS came out almost a year after the GBA, so that number is pretty impressive! It also outsold Pokémon TCG

That Saturn list is fantastic, so happy to see nights so high. What a fucking awesome console.

The Sega Saturn had one of the most diverse, eclectic software lineups in all console history.

To see NFL, of all games, at the top of it's charts, perfectly encapsulates how devastatingly mismanaged that amazing failed console was.

I didn't know the sports crowd were so loyal to Sega after Genesis. It makes sense. Madden and NHL were some of the best games on the console even if you didn't like sports. Visual Concepts is still dominating with the 2k series. I thought everyone would have mass migrated during early saturn

The n64 may have not had that many games, but that list of top selling games is incredible. Although Shadows of the Empire is not so incredible...

Kinda weird how crash 2 sold seemingly alot less then crash 1 and even 3.

Keeps up the trend that the best thing in a trilogy always sells the worse

Crash always been big. It was odd seeing some trying to make it seem like an irrelevant IP from back in the day.

Whilst all the games on the PS1 and N64 lists are million sellers. Dreamcast only had one million seller and no Saturn game could even get to half a million.

no really, their sports games were so good and so cheap EA had to grab an exclusive license from the NFL to keep from getting its ass kicked
No, the NFL got pissed by the cheap stunts Sega pulled with their license that they auctioned exclusivity off to the highest bidder. Sega wasn't going to keep the $20 thing going for more than one year.
