In Saint Denis, outside of the market where the trapper is, there were two guys (may or may not have been gang members) who were taunting me. I defused the situation and went in to the trapper. I exited the market and the guys took me for a tough guy who wanted action, so they started firing at me. Knowing how stupid the wanted system is, I fled, hoping to defuse the situation this way. After about ten seconds of being chased I became wanted by the authorities and had the cops gunning for me.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CRAP? This is literally ruining the game for me at times. I can't surrender to the law. I'm having difficulty getting away from them on foot and my horse isn't getting into range. I don't want to fire back and raise my bounty even higher. There is literally no way to defuse a situation that I should not have been put in to begin with. I don't know if they're going to fix the wanted system, but gang members popping off at you with no repercussion from the law, and being unable to defend yourself from them without getting the law on you is absolutely ridiculous.
The 'Dead eye' focus thing:
In RDR1, you could use the RB button to select specific points to mark for the shot. But in this game, it seems that just moving the RS selects the markers automatically. This causes all sorts of problems. Is there a way to use the RB/R1 to set the markers?
PS: poster Lewis' post regarding control option changes etc. made a world of difference for me. I actually really dig the gunplay now in Free Aim with his settings. Default control is bafflingly shitty compared to what you CAN tweak it to. I recommend anyone who has trouble with that tries that out.
Also, first person is much more responsive indoors and in fire fights in my opinion as a heads up
This game now has my respect as well as my love.
I came across the alcoholic that was complaining about how the bank took his property and his life from him and Arthur offered to get back a few heirlooms for him. And in the process of finding the heirlooms you discover that the man is a former slave auctioneer and is lamenting the end of slavery. And how he took "pride" in his work.
At the end of the quest the man is on his knees crying like a bitch because he wants to be a slave auctioneer again and how "they" (abolitionists) ruined his life.
I shot that motherfucker in the head with my sawed off shotgun and the game gave me + Honor for killing that sack of shit.
This is the exact same as how RDR1 treated the first Dead Eye level. Keep playing and you will unlock manual marking. The 'Dead eye' focus thing:

They responded to the missing persons glitch. Probably working on a patchIt's kinda of amazing how silent R* has been on this game support wise. Missing person's glitch, HDR support, etc. It's been more than a week, and nothing. Still my GOTY, convincingly so, but even a sentence officially acknowledging the issues would do a lot.
Go to a gun smith, enter the customisation menu. There you can set your weapon loadout, identified by the holster icon to the right of the weapon name in the list.can someone explain me the weapon wheel on horse? so often weapons + special ammunition i set while on horse just disappear, after missions, other events? i do not understand it. every freakin time i have to set they again and again and again....
How in the world does duelling even work. The one time I used it, I whiffed and just shot the guy as normal or something. (This was during a mission so it was probably more lenient than normal.)Somewhere in the middle of Chapter 2 this game finally clicked for me. Am enjoying it a lot now, but...
That duel mechanic is straight up bullshit. Or if it's not, they do a really bad job of explaining it.
I'm catching up on the sharpshooters side mission where you find them from analysing photographs. Each time I end up dying 5 or 6 times before I, completely randomly it seems, manage to shoot them before they shoot me.
So, how does the Dead Eye work in this game? Have it at Level 8/8 but it still automatically marks targets instead of letting me do it manually.

Almost done Ch.3 and this game is becoming such a grind... The missions are so repetitive.
a) "Go here"
b) "Pick something up"
c) "Bring it somewhere"
I've been spending more time hunting - and avoiding the missions/progressing the story.
Is there a trick to getting consistent perfect pelts? I've hogtied animals and killed them cleanly with a knife and that still doesn't guarantee it? Same with headshotting animals with bows. I even have the talisman for higher percentage of higher quality pelts but still really struggling. Am I missing something?
You are not using the right weapon. Check the info on the animal to see which weapon to use to get a clean kill. You can use the "Show info" button when targeting an animal. Is there a trick to getting consistent perfect pelts? I wish they really lasted that long all the time. I want that oppressive feeling of it lasting and drenching everything every once in a while.the apocalypse has started in my game, its been storming for a hour in real life time
I had this exact issue. I walked out of the alley after selling some goods to a trapper, and three Lemoyne Raiders picked a fight with me. I didn't fight back at—I simply ran. I sprinted by a policeman, hoping he would be interested in three men firing revolvers downtown, but then *I* became Wanted. The hell, man?
If you're serious, when it says "sold out", they actually mean that you have the maximum amount you can carry.
OMG That's what that does. Holy shiiiiiieettt.Go to a gun smith, enter the customisation menu. There you can set your weapon loadout, identified by the holster icon to the right of the weapon name in the list.

You have to press it in slowly, but you still need to draw (meaning, fully press R2) before the other guy draws. Can someone fully explain the draw shootout mechanic? It says to slowly hold r2. It half the time I die and when I do win I have no idea what I did correctly
So I need to aim as well? You have to press it in slowly, but you still need to draw (meaning, fully press R2) before the other guy draws.
Amen.I'm blown away by the tone of this game. GTA V never lets you forget it's a bonkers parody of the real world either through obnoxious ads or the squawking NPCs. RDR 2 has its grand cinematic moments, but I'm even more impressed by all the somber, quiet moments like the end of that mission. This game has a *lot* to say, but not in a pretentious manner. It's Rockstar's greatest achievement, and it's not even a fair fight. Motherfuckers made Westworld 1.0
Yep, I just learned that today from a YouTube video lol. I was getting annoyed that I couldn't customize a load out, because the game doesn't tell you this...

I've gotta be honest - This is probably in my top 3 games ever, but I'm at theand I'm really ready for the game to be over. I stand by my earlier comment that the story is too long.epilogue
