No. A kettle is completely the wrong shape to be a practical cooking vessel. Not to mention (since I live in a civilised part of the world where kettles are electric by default) the kettle turns itself off once it reaches boiling temperature, which is not ideal for cooking food that requires a sustained boil or simmer.

I boil the water in the kettle first, in the interest of saving time, then pour it into a pot on the stove to cook the food in, like a normal person.

Except that's exactly when you want to turn the heat off when boiling eggs. It works extremely well.

Yeah my friend used to do it back when we were in Uni and were living in a communal house, all the pots were being used or used and he was too lazy to wash any of them.
