Tis the season for apple and pumpkin pie, and I've been doing a lot of baking. Woke up early to prep and bake a pear pie (bunch of pears from a co-worker's pear tree!) for a friend's birthday and I'm sweating from the heat of the oven, but I love it

And yes, I make my own pie crusts because I am a pastry lord

Do you guys like pie? What kind of pie is your favorite? I am voting pecan pie (old school, recipe on the back of the Karo syrup bottle) with apple as a close second

Pear pie? No. No, don't do that. I love the delicate taste of pears but the mealy texture is a turn-off.

But yeah, I love pie season. I've been on a keto diet for about a year and a half now but I'll make an exception for Thanksgiving and Christmas pies. My mom makes the best goddamn pie, and so on Thanksgiving between her and my wife we'll have 5-6 different pies. Pumpkin, pecan, apple, peanut butter, cranberry ganache, and then a pumpkin cheesecake. Pie is the greatest!

I know! You'd think it would suck but these pears I got are so crisp and delicious they work. They're a bit like Asian pears, their texture

I need to try more pears. I hear from pear fans that there are good crisp pears but whenever I eat pears they always have that bad texture. Even while cooked.
