Are there missions with stablished weather, I swear the game throws the most amazing conditions at the perfect time. My first trip to Rhodes was at night just as I went through the swamps, it was amazing. There have been other times like that.

I think in general the atmosphere in this game is unparalleled, they nailed the lighting, weather, everything.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are some missions with scripted weather.

I was finding it insanely frustrating until I read the compendium entry for whatever I was hunting. It gives you much more natural direction for how to find them than using the symbols on maps. Once I started using the compendium as my primary guide all my hunting woes melted away

You know, I completely forgot that the compendium even existed. Just checked my own and it's still pitifully empty but the information on what I do have seems to be very useful. Thanks for remininding me lol. Any tips on where I can find Badgers? I haven't seen a single one my entire playthrough.

Why is it that every time I lasso someone on the horse, when I get off, the lasso breaks and they run away. The first time I lassoed someone this didnt happen but only that first time.

Just finished the Saint Denis side mission where
you deal with Mary's dad then go on a date. Man that's sad. I kinda wish he would just leave with her.

Man, Arthur is a great character.

So I'm just getting started with the game, wondering what the gameplay loop is like for others? Do you go out in the morning, do missions and activities then come back to camp to rest and fill your cores? Or do you just munch snacks and tonics to keep your cores up and stay out for longer periods?

I kinda like the idea of heading back at night to rest.

Camp is rewarding you with character and narrative interactions. It's very well built so you are more and more inclined to get back to it when you can. There's always something to do (shaving, clothing, getting supplies, a mission, sleeping, buying something for the camp, or being a good member of the community...). The initial position of the camp (as in chapter 2) on the map makes it central so you get back to it quickly or uses it to go through the map.

It's the best example of how the game is building an excellent roleplay experience. The complex and simulation gameplay are another important element of this, but the camp is so powerful. It's brilliant narrative-wise, despite a few lines of dialogues that come back and others little things that aren't perfect. I really wonder how the camp is going to evolve over time.

To answer your question (finally haha), I usually get back to camp at the end of the day if I'm nearby or within 2 to 3 days if I went too far. So far I stuck close to the camp of Chapter 2 and the missions so I'm always 5 minutes away from the camp maximum.

Was going after a bounty and stopped to hunt a lil but then bounty hunters came after me :o

I hid behind a rock and just watched them search for me for a while, was gonna let them ride off but I couldn't help tossing dynamite at them and ambushing them.

Another hour and a half played. Another hour and a half of accomplishing nothing. One of these days I'll set a marker for a story mission and actually go to the story mission.

Riding into Saint Denis after 20 hours in the wilderness and Valentine/Strawberry was really something else. Super misty night and the lighting is insane, and I'm now down about $500 after visiting the tailor, but Arthur looks cool as fuck now.

I just need to say, this game is blowing my mind.
I've never played a game which felt like it could be a real place before. I just get lost looking at everything. Inspecting every tree just to see how different they are from each other, seeing some building in the distance and heading there just to find a new side story, watching the animals react to me being around, how my horse behaves, talking/responding to people in an organic way, studying the architecture, seeing how npcs go about doing their thing, etc

It's really freaking immersive, to the point I believe it's starting to blur the lines between games and reality in new ways. I'm scared I may have been creating new memories of places I've been to that aren't even real.

I've played many open world games (even previous rockstar games) and while they're cool, I always went directly to the missions because everything in between I found boring and a waste of my time. Not this game, this one is a joy just to walk around and discover new places.

Yes the controls still are clunky as hell and the UI is fucking shit, but the attention to detail in every other area is just nuts it'll make it really hard for me to go back to other open world games in the future.

I'm debating on picking this up. Should I get the Ultimate Edition, or is the content it comes with not worth the extra price?

As amazing as this game is, i think it only highlights, at least for me, the masterpiece RDR1 is, from characters to story the first game has this one beat, on activities this one obviously is much much diverse.

I was wondering what it means when some of the yellow quest markers pulse? I noticed it shortly after finishing a mission when I was checking the map to see what I might want to do next. I had something like 5 yellow quest markers and 3 of them were pulsing.

For a new page I figured someone may now know.

When do the Arabian horses start showing up? I botched grabbing the white one up north on something rather stupid. Saint Denis doesn't even sell horses to me currently.

I find the characters in RDR2 to be way more interesting than the first game. All of the gang members have distinct personalities and lots of dialogue even the lesser ones, for example.

How do you efficient use bait? I mean the non-fish type.

Feel like I waste it when I use it...

I like playing this game but I fucking wish it would remember my guns AND the ammo for them.
I have to change those two fucking things sometimes 4/5 times during a mission.
The "better check at your horse if you took your second rifle" stuff is cute but at least remember what it was when I'm riding ON it.

I'm having some kind of bug where I will randomly lose all of my varmint rifle ammo. I just bought 180 rounds of it a an hour ago and haven't used it or even equipped it since, and now when I grab it to shoot a raccoon I suddenly have no ammo.

How do you clear bounties? Time? Or do I have to ride into a hostile town and pay someone?

Ride into any post office in the state you gave the bounty in, walk up to the clerk, and pay it off.

The post office is marked as a little envelope icon on the map

Edit: Actually yeah, as Racer said it doesn't even have to be the state you have the bounty. Any state, any post office.

How the hell are you supposed to deal with the "10 guys ambush you with a carriage" event? It's happened multiple times to me now, and this time I lost the warhorse I'd been using since the start of the game. I was dead in less than a minute, my horse was downed almost instantly and was gone when I "woke up."

This is by far the most frustrating thing to happen so far. Every time I start to warm up to this game, it does something totally random to pull the rug out from under me.

I think I'm just going to skip the side content and mainline the story now.

Guess I fucked up the "Unforgiven" stranger quest that starts in Valentine as I've killed 3 of the 4 gunslingers I'm supposed to get info from. Now I haven't seen the biographer since. In chapter 3 now.

Without spoiling it, at which point do you start getting new arrows? I only have the regular arrows. I'm still part way into Chapter 2. I know the fence/trapper has a recipe for poison ones but looking for others. I don't want to look online in case I see any potential spoilers.

You have to craft them at a fire.
