I gave up on the shuffle function a long time ago. I just handpick a song every now and then now.
The worst part is there should be no algorithm. Just do pure random and fuck off with the BS.
Yes, this is the problem. They are using some unique algorithm and it changes, which ends up having bugs in it.I don't have any problems with my shuffle.
However, Spotify's shuffle is not truly random and is algorithmic, which means they likely update/change it from time to time. Perhaps they made changes that unbalanced the weighting for you? They like to roll changes out regionally, by platform, or even by type of music you listen to.
Yo the hell is ZZZ Top?
Is it like ZZ Top but even older? With longer beards?
They know 95% of people don't notice and don't care, only the nerds give a shit about it so they just ignore it.Yes, this is the problem. They are using some unique algorithm and it changes, which ends up having bugs in it.
If you search, there is a long history of people complaining "Why can't Spotify just get a basic shuffle right?" lol.
I know tons of people that hate Spotify shuffle. Problem is it's not a big enough problem that people will pay for Apple/Google musicThey know 95% of people don't notice and don't care, only the nerds give a shit about it so they just ignore it.
This is the problem I have with Google play... and hell... going back years ago media player did it too. I've tried to turn it off then turn it back on but it doesn't reshuffle shit. It's in the same "random" order. Making a "random" number generator was one of the earliest programs I had to write in a java class. It seems to shuffle in the same order, or similar order during consecutive jam sessions.
Very annoying
Maaaaybe this is an actual Spotify bug, but it is also definitely a classic human psychology / computer science problem, and every major media delivery service has been drowned in customers complaining that "shuffle isn't random!!!" since forever

omg if this fixes it, you have done me a huge favour!!This is a known problem with Spotify. If you have your playlist arranged in chronological order (I.e. when you added those songs) it will default to the same order constantly, overplaying the same few songs.
Rearranging the list to Alphabetical fixes this.

thanks :)
It works!Try it out. I can't remember who told me about this one but it definitely fixes the issue for me when using Spotify on Android.
I can't recall if I have the same issue with desktop or not
