Can't imagine buying these again at 20$ a pop. I'll wait till it's 20$ for both.
I feel like $20 for each game is pretty fair and the absolute correct pricing for late ports like this. It's much much more preferable than paying $50 or $60... which is what the other late third party ports this month have been sold at.

What the Switch really needs is an original entry.

I can see this happening. Switch's combination of surging sales and 'middle tier' development costs seems like an attractive environment for an exclusive RE project.

Of course I could say that for any Japanese action/adventure franchise, but RE/BIO seems to be one of those series' which is always happening in some shape or another, handily plugging gaps in financials and release schedules.

I wonder what characters Rev 3 should follow. Time to bring back Rebecca and Sheva?

A 'new' character related to existing characters was a smart move for Revelations 2 and I'd be happy to see that happen again.

I'd immediately vouch for Becky had she not come back in the third CG movie. Don't get me wrong, I liked her in it, but they blew an opportunity to do something interesting with her, like say the move from RE2 Leon to RE4 Leon. She's basically the same old Becky.

Shame, as there's not many loose ends regarding classic characters left.

Where did you read about the language thing? I'm contemplating importing Revelations 1 from Japan if it doesn't have that ugly ass warning on the boxart.
It's in the OP. ;)

Languages: (Global SKU!)
Revelations: Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, English
Revelations 2: Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, English

Had to look carefully myself as I missed it the first time as well with all that other info.

Developing a RE for Switch would be a good away to avoid the exorbitant development costs that many games on current-gen consoles fall into

They could always port it to PS4 and X1 later with some added bells and whistles, too.

That way it sells well on Switch with no criticisms of its specs, and then sells again on other systems where there are more RE fans.

So I want to buy 1 of these for the Raid mode. I have already beaten the single player of both games and vastly prefer Revelations 1, but is the raid mode of 2 enough of an enhancement that I should get that one? I only briefly played the raid mode of each one a while ago and enjoyed them, but at that point I was burned out and ended up moving on to something else.

By Global SKU, is this like RE5/RE6 on Xbox 360 or RE7 on XB1, in which the disc is literally the same globally, which means compatible save files and DLC no matter where you buy?

are the load times in revelations 2 as bad as I've heard? Also, no preload wtf capcpom
To start Rev 2, it takes about a minute from hitting 'Normal' to the start of the opening cinematic. From the cinematic end to the start of the game itself, it takes around 1.5 minutes. Loading a save file is much shorter and the lengthy loads seem mostly tied to the start of a new episode.

Haha, why would I actually read the OP? Thanks, looks like I will now be browsing around online to check the boxart for the Japanese version of Revelations 1. I imagine since it is a standalone release it wouldn't need that giant banner (yes I have a problem).

A word of warning to those who don't like swearing, Moira cusses a LOT. (I don't mind, personally — words are just words to me, so long as there's no hateful intent.)

However, there's a story reason why Moira talks the reason she does. And it actually leads to some pretty heartwarming moments. :-3

I got the same "problem". ;)
If they really mess something like that up, I have no problem in picking up a Japanese copy instead.
In this case, it's just that the US copies always come with a code for Revelations 2 and I don't want a third account on my system at this time.
So a Japanese copy, either the stand alone one, or the double pack would be fine.
Then again, I hadn't looked into the banner thing. So the stand alone one will probably be my pick and I'll download the Rev2 on the EU eshop.

Although, now that I checked out the box art, it doesn't seem to have a banner... Hopefully that's the final one.

I can't really confirm since I don't have the game yet. But looking at how other universal Switch games seem to be doing this, I think so.

Once you buy one of these universal games on the European eshop for instance, if I then go to the Japanese eshop with my second account, it shows up as purchased as well. So those definitely are the same.
Certain games don't do universal languages, so watch out for those ones.

The only thing that I'm wondering in this case is, if the game is coded to show the Biohazard title screen when logged in to a Japanese account, yet a Resident Evil one when logged into a western account.
But someone will probably be able to check on that very soon.

To honor this game and price point, President Andrew Jackson should be taken off the U.S. $20 bill and replaced by Barry

My copy arrives tomorrow.

In honor of Barry, I will making a Jill sandwich for lunch while I wait for my game to arrive in the mail.

Ok, that sounded gross. I'll just eat a hamburger.

I can't remember, is there an RE/Biohazard-themed diner or cafe anywhere in the world? I wonder what a real Jill sandwich would be like.

I know there's a Kirby cafe.

I posted some info on this in the eShop thread but yes, they are long. If you're starting a new game, it'll take about 40 seconds to get to the first cutscene. When I skipped the scene, it took another minute or so to actually start the game. In total, it was about 2 minutes.

Continuing from a saved game is shorter than starting brand new but still on the long side.

anyone know if there is a Day one patch for those loading times?

No patch. Both versions are 1.0

I just went ahead and confirmed it. It shows Biohazard if your system language is set to Japanese.

So how does the digital version of Rev2 work if you buy physical? Do you have to download the game and then keep the cart inserted to boot the game?

Ah sweet! :D

That's good to know. It works a bit like the Neo Geo and older Mega Drive carts then where both versions were on the cartridge and it depended on the actual hardware you put it in.
I really wish KoeiTecmo did this as well as I want to get a bunch of Musou games on the system, but they are only Japanese at this point and I'm having a hard time waiting for a western announcement that might not even be coming.

The next spinoff game. Whether it's called Revelations 3 or not need to have jake return.
He can't be in a mainline game with those powers unless they ditch the horror angle again.

Resident Evil has to have the biggest and best cast of playable characters of any comparable long-running adventure series

I think of REV3, I ask "who should it follow," and like nine different characters spring to mind

Is this game more action like or more horror like?
I don't like horror games, but I want to play a RE game and support the port.

I just want Sheva to return. I feel like a lot more can be done with Rebecca too.

Think I might pick up Revelations 2, been meaning to replay it for a while and I think this could be the second-best version to play, all things considered. I remember really liking it, it's definitely a whole lot better than the first one (in my opinion of course).

Anyone have experience with the story mode splitscreen co-op? I know how it works, but is it any fun in reality? I'm curious to finally give that a try.

Are there lengthy swimming/underwater sections in R2? I hated those on the original Rev thanks to the OG 3DS clumsy controls and I'd rather not go through that again.

Just downloaded these last tonight. I haven't finished Rev2 yet, so I'm starting with that.

I want Rev3 to basically be RE5-2. So set it in Africa again, bring back Sheva and Josh as mains, and then add Bruce and Fong Ling from Dead Aim as secondaries.

Got my credit ready for the Canada eshop purchase (£14.50 each). I can't wait. I last played rev 1 on the 3DS. I've never played rev 2 and for some reason I never tried raid mode.

I have not played either of them, in fact, I have not played any RE game
Hmm, OK, it's more like a third-person shooter with occasional stretches of atmospheric "It's quiet — TOO quiet." But nothing too shocking.

There's also a fair amount of backtracking, searching the environment for supplies, simple puzzle-solving, etc.

I've been wanting to re-play Rev2 seeing all these threads. I love the beginning of it. Or pretty much all of it more or less. Probably one of the few exceptions that really liked Clarie in it.

I love Claire in Rev 2. I know some fans felt her depiction was inconsistent with past installments, but I thought she was great.
