How? I remember complaints of the audio in GT Sport sounding extremely dated. Unless they patched it
It's been continually patched, though I don't remember Sport sounding bad. It's definitely a big jump for the franchise and apparently a contender for one of the best out there.

Unfortunately the car sounds in Forza Horizon 4 seems to consist of a about 8 standard engine sounds applied to the cars.

Hugely disappointing after how well everything else is done.

Yep one of the most disappointing things about the game. They have been getting worse every time since like Forza 4.

Not just 5 and 6, all the GT games up to Sport has had terrible engine sounds.

I thought so but didn't want to say because I haven't played the PS1/2 games in years so I can't actually remember.

At launch it was pretty good but had some issues, especially with down shifts and low revs. But they've done a good job of updating sounds, especially for fan favs like the 787b. Is it the best sounding car game in the market? Nah but it's the best sounding car game that has been released in the past year.

Congrats to Polyphony!

The audio design of GT Sport is probably the most improved part of the game in comparison to the previous entries and usually we don't give Polyphony enough credit for that.

The down shifts and backfires of Porsche 911 GT3 (996) are so good:

Going back and listening to GT Sport really makes the cars in Horizon 4 sound like a joke.

It's like they didn't even care about sound for the longest time. Now it sounds as polished as it looks.

I'm not even sure what they were doing with the engine design prior to Sport. The comparison videos out for the games really show you just how much of a disparity there is between it and the entries before

Raceroom and Dirt Rally are the best sounding racing games for me.

But holy shit at what Polyphony have finally accomplished!
Not only do the engine notes sound so much better, but it's everything else that contributes to that authentic racing sounds.
One of my biggest gripes was that it seemed Polyphony just didn't know how to implement a proper sounding/behaving transmission and driveline. Gone are the on/off shifting effects and now, the shifting, both up and down, sound so much more natural and authentic.

It has taken a long effing time but they are definitely on the right track...future sounds bright!

One thread.... For tiga... Mod warnings ignored lol

They did hire a forza sound engineer but gladly doesn't sound overly throaty just for the sake of it

Sadly my receiver doesn't process 4K/HDR so I have to plug my PS4 directly into the TV and am stuck with SD audio. I'd love to hear this in HD audio.

The Forza guy was hired a few years ago right? It is still impressive the love put into this game from Polyphony Digital as they have evolved over the years since the first GT.
