User was warned for: trolling. If you have no interest in the game then there's no need to post in the OT.

nice joke. your "exact the same" is actually not even close
the shrinked resolution, the waterdowned graphics, the 30fps slide show
The graphics aren't watered down. The character models, geometry, textures and effects are all intact. It's a solid 30fps, not a "slide show."

Also, it runs at a full 1080p in docked mode. In handheld, it's 720p, but that's the full resolution of the screen.

What's your issue, dude? I have it on PS4 and I'll get on Switch. I'll enjoy it on both. You can too.

Is there co-op story in 2 or just raid has a story?
You can do story co-op in RER2, but it's local co-op only. Raid, meanwhile, is both local and online.

Also, in story co-op, only one character in each pair uses a gun. The other character has limited melee attacks but special powers they can use in a support role. In single-player, you can switch freely between the two at any time.

I got mine a day early. Can only play the first one since the other one is a digital download and technically doesn't release until tomorrow.

Started it up, got greeted by a weird ass shooting mini game that wasn't in any of the previous versions I had played (I played the 3DS, PC and Wii U versions before). Was not expecting that, hahaha. Neat little surprise, even if it was pointless.

You couldn't download It? I've had a copy since last Wednesday and I had no issues downloading it.

Yea, the minigames are new. One in each game. Haven't tried the 2nd one though. You get some BP for Raid Mode so it's something.

Sorry if it's been answered already, but does anyone know if Raid mode is unlocked by default?

Yup, unlocked from the start!

I'll take a locked 30FPS over the choppy unlocked framerate of the PS4 version any day tbh.

thank you. some people are either have terrible eyesight or simply delusional
Of course they're not identical, they're at different framerates. But otherwise they look so similar that you'd be splitting hairs to complain. And the Switch version has BotW-style gyro as an option, which means it'll play better. (Although I worry it might trivialize some of the challenge, being able to instantly shoot things with pinpoint precision.)

Pleasantly surprised how solid Revelations 2 is on Switch. It's become the definitive version for me, thanks to its handheld mode, which I seem to enjoy the game more in.

As someone who obsessed over the PS4 version, played it episode by episode as they originally released and bought it again at retail... this Switch version looks identical, framerate aside.

That's right, you have a review copy. Glad to hear it's your favorite version now.

What are the odds of the rest of the series migrating after this?

I need RE6 Mercs on the go.

Let's set the tone now. Yes the PS4 version runs at double the frame rate. Big surprise, the Switch is a battery powered portable. This does not mean the OT is going to become a senseless back and forth of baseless arguements. Compare the two versions all you like but when we stoop to hyperbole like "30fps slide show" then we're entering troll territory and that won't be tolerated.

Evidently that would be you. The graphical assets (textures, character models, UI, etc.) are identical to the PS4/XB1 versions, which shouldn't exactly be surprising given how this was a lower budget cross-gen game that began development on the PS3 and had minimal modifications in the transition to the following gen.

That's right, you have a review copy. Glad to hear it's your favorite version now.

These ports would need to sell well first -- the Wii U never got anything after Revelations, for example. But given how well the Switch is doing, I imagine RE4-6 arrive eventually.

I need to finish Doom tonight and pick up RE: R2 tomorrow. Anyone know the length? I need to finish this by Friday for XB2.

Didn't notice local co-op when I was playing my Revelations 1 review code earlier. Will have to check this. Thought it was online only for raid mode.

I will happily:

- Triple-dip on RE6
- Quadruple-dip on RE5
- Sextuple-dip on RE4 (that'd be six times, right?)

Also need the Origins Collection (REmake and RE0)

Hmm, I'd like to say RE2 and RE3 but they'd have to gut all the Sony copyright, eh?

Maybe RE7 if they can pare back the texture quality to shrink down the file size

Hmm, glad to see confirmation that both games are global SKU's and have all languages.

Might import the Japanese double copy then since I don't have a US account, but do have a EU and Japanese one.

There's no story co-op in Rev 1. However, it does have online co-op for Raid.

As for Rev 2, it has local co-op for story, and both local and online co-op for Raid.

What the Switch really needs is an original entry. I'm not talking about an Umbrella Chronicles, but something like a Revelations 3 that it has as a timed exclusive so the RE fanbase can take the platform more seriously. History's proven that RE fans who only own Nintendo systems are a minority.

Make sure you get the true ending, though. There will be a scene where Claire is pinned down by something. When this happens, switch to Moira and crawl forward. This will put you on the path to the true ending, which has an extra final boss, an extra location, extra scenes, and tons of quotable one-liners.

I wonder what characters Rev 3 should follow. Time to bring back Rebecca and Sheva?

Where did you read about the language thing? I'm contemplating importing Revelations 1 from Japan if it doesn't have that ugly ass warning on the boxart.

I'm playing Revelations now, I just finished episode 4. The campaign so far is really good: it's a tense slow paced TPS with a very dark tone that doesn't use jumpscares (I hate them) and the port is really good too! On the go it looks amazing, on the TV the fact that it's a 3DS game it's a bit more obvious but it's very much okay.
Motion controls are fantastic, there are many options to custom the feedback and once you find the right settings you can aim for the weak spots even from the distance. The controls are so good that I honestly feel like normal difficulty it's too easy even for me that I'm a complete noob. HD rumble too has different settings and it's quite good.

It's my very first Resident Evil and I'm really loving it, I'm sure I'll want more after finishing the game.

Oh and the plot it's understandable even if you have never played any other RE game before. You'll miss some events but nothing major.

Word of warning about Rev 2 - some of the loading times are pretty awful. I clocked a few and they ran 40-65 seconds, which was especially annoying when I got killed a few times.

Also not a fan of the motion controls in either game, just feel awkward and clunky to me, more trouble than they're worth. Cool if others are enjoying them though.

Overall these are very solid ports though at fairly reasonable prices.

Yeah, I think RER1 HD on a handheld is going to be the best way to experience it, out of all the versions currently available on all systems. On a TV it may be a bit more obvious that the game started as a 3DS title (albeit a bleeding-edge pushing-the-envelope one), but on an HD handheld screen it will look just right.
