Exact opposite for me.I thought this was peak-comedy when I was in high school.
My tastes have certainly changed.
About that... the Blu-ray was released more than two years ago.
Well he only uploaded this at the start of this week so... lolAbout that... the Blu-ray was released more than two years ago.
It still is and Don is a genius.I thought this was peak-comedy when I was in high school.
My tastes have certainly changed.
I also thought they were peak comedy back then.I thought this was peak-comedy when I was in high school.
My tastes have certainly changed.
don has a vimeo channelI could have sworn that this was on some other video hosting service, but I'm happy it's here now, too.
True and it's nice that it's publicly available now. But I think what the other poster is clarifying is that technically he remastered a bunch of his stuff 2 years ago for the World of Tomorrow blu. And also it looks like the remastered Rejected went on Vimeo in February.Well he only uploaded this at the start of this week so... lol
Likewise.
I mean that, but also this framing device that it's Hertzfeldt's descent into madness in opposition to the commercial work he's being hired for. What separates Rejected from a lot of the "SO RANDOM" cartoons and humor that came after it is how it devolves into a mixed-media, universe-collapsing nightmare by the end. Most cartoons don't end witha stick figure screaming silently in terror as his reality is destroyed and crumpled around him.
Damn I'm jealous. He's one of my favorite indie animators.
Those algorithms paying offI ended up buying the blu-ray collection from his website just now and copped volume 2 from amazon while I was at it.
And how. It's crazy how a film that would inspire a lot of those flash cartoons based on random humor got an Oscar nomination.
Still a classic, though. Haven't seen this for many, many years. The "I AM A CONSUMER WHORE" frame still gets me every time.
