Won't it just preferentially match you with people with the same rules?
Like if your concern is 1v1 no item matches then you literally have nothing to worry about. I'd imagine it's the weirder stuff that'll be harder to find but there's no chance 1v1s are hard to find.

You choose what you prefer, it matches you with the same. If it can't (highly unlikely) you'll be matched up with the next best thing it seems. So if you can't find 2 stock 1v1, it finds you a 3 stock 1v1 or something.

I'm gonna be optimistic about it. Once the competitive scene figures out what they're going with, a lot of people are going to use those settings online. So hopefully the matchmaking can recognize that and group everyone together most of the time
I loved the trio of Duck Hunt Dog, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer and how they had absolutely no idea how to react to the situation.
Would they really do a Gen 8 Pokemon when they have limited characters to work with? I mean I saw that with this avatar but would they even have the foresight to do another Pokemon then? Like what would it say that Sakurai wouldn't implement Xenoblade 2 and ARMS for being too late and implement a game we literally know nothing about by the time the game itself comes out and it's DLC purchased?
With that said your other choices would be alright with me. I'd rather Slime be Sora but whatever I'm preparing for the Square to be a dead end for me.
The lack of customization of rules was always a huge issue online, especially with being forced to play on Omega stages. This seems like reasonable matchmaking. They could have just added more modes, but then you'd limit pools even more.
If that press release is true and the Piranha Plant has a stage released along with it, then I'm guessing its the one most likely to have an unrelated stage. If its explicitly Piranha Plant themed, then I'd say its a safe bet that the rest of the DLC characters will follow suit.

I'm with you don't, don't worry. Few characters I wish made it like Banjo, but overall I'm golden. People just wanted more anime I think.
It matches you with people with the same settings. Chances are a ton of people are going to do 1v1 no items, so I don't think you'll get items very often, if ever.
I assume the new Magicant remix will be based on the Magicant from Earhtbound rather than Mother this time. I never really cared for the original but here's hoping the remix is of the high quality the Mother remixes usually get.
Also that makes 4 Sun & Moon remixes now so probably RIP the chances of a Guzma/Team Skull medley.
I still want it to be canon that there's a weird Dream World (different from Dream Land) that connects all Nintendo worlds and is ruled by Wart.
(Then Wart will be important enough to be added to Smash)

About the Direct, the delivery was poor and some things doesn't interest me at all (the newstickers spirits mechanics), but I'm still hype as with the august direct. I'm happy with the new spirit/challenge battles, the huge cast of characters, stages, items, music and most important, the revamped gameplay. And thanks to give us the option to change the language inside the game! I hate the European Spanish narrator!
I mostly sure that nobody of my wished characters will be between the DLC ones, so my only hopes now are:
1) That the new adventure mode had cinematics or somekind of dialogs between characters (even if it's like in a Visual Novel style like the old GuiltyGear or Blazblue games). I love the crossover interactions.
2) That they give some free-dlc between pay-dlc as new echoes or game modes.

And that's why SMBUSA is the only game without Piranha Plants. Wrong dream world ecosystem.
The spanish subs, that are usually more literal translations of what sakurai says than the treehouse voice Sakurai gets dubbed, never at any point states that.

Even then, nearly all crossover stories use this type of villain and story set ups. Infinity War didnt invent this type of story. DC uses a similar template in their universe changing events (and marvel in their comics before their movies of course), and even Disneyland's Fantasmic does the kill everyone except the hero to stop the villain and resurrect everyone. Its a very tropey thing, but I do love it.
Since they said the mode is more for fun rather than being focused on story, I doubt it. (Sadly.)
