Ewan McGregor is joining Warner Bros./DC's Birds of Prey as its villain Black Mask, Deadline has confirmed.

McGregor joins Margot Robbie who is reprising her role as Harley Quinn, and as exclusively reported by Deadline, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing Huntress while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will play Black Canary. Separately, it was reported elsehwhere that Rosie Perez is playing Renee Montoya. Sue Kroll is producing through her Kroll & Co. label with Robbie and Bryan Unkeless.

Not sure if this fits but McGregor is a solid dude.

Always pictured someone like Guy Pearce playing Black Mask.

This film seems to be coming along really well. I like the cast so far and the director has me intrigued. I know this project has its detractors but I'm looking forward to it.

Trying to think if Ewan has played a straight up villain before. I mean, other than the Star Wars prequels, from Anakin's point of view.

Okay, I'm down with this. But it just makes me want a Catwoman vs. Black Mask movie more.

I finished that season a week ago. It seems like every Fargo season has people saying that it was the best or worst one. But I like them all for different reasons. S3 did lack some of the tension of the first two seasons though.

Anyhow, I like most of the actors in this project. Hopefully it is more Wonder Woman than Suicide Squad in quality.

I'm a little late here, but if you are going to change one of the Birds of Prey to a PoC (I approve), why Black Canary, thus perpetuating the "Black <noun>" thing even further?

I guess it doesn't matter, but I thought that particular cliche was dying off.

Also a missed opportunity to cast Helena Bertinelli to match her newer design. Would have been nice if they went with both. :)
