They've never said that would be the case though, have they? I'm sure the finale and maybe 1 or 2 other episodes will hover around 90 minutes, but I don't think anyone should expect six 2-hour episodes.

It seems more like the episodes are just harder to make, and not necessarily going to be longer because of it. Like this White Walker battle sounds exponentially more difficult to put together than Battle of the Bastards, but I'm not expecting it to be two hours long because of it. It'll just be a really involved and packed 60-70 minutes.

They have said some of them will get that long yes. Not 2hrs long, but up to 80-90 mins for multiple eps I presume.

If the show doesn't end with a pregnant Brienne on the iron throne with Tormund as her consort then the whole series was for nothing

Last April a crew member revealed that Game of Thrones had wrapped 55 night shoots while filming a battle. Media outlets around the world ran stories saying the final season's battle took twice as long as the 25-day shoot for season 6's climactic Battle of the Bastards. This wildly understated what really happened. The 55 nights were only for the battle's outdoor scenes at the Winterfell set. Filming then moved into the studio, where Sapochnik continued shooting the same battle for weeks after that.

"It's brutal," Dinklage says. "It makes the Battle of the Bastards look like a theme park."

I AM GEEKING OUT REAL HARD

I thought this video was interesting as a potential ending.

So, so hype. Most hyped I've ever been for something in entertainment, besides Star Wars (this may even eclipse it when the season finally hits).

The article says the battle could eventually be the must sustained action sequence in the history of film or TV shows.
This is the Final Fantasy VII Remake of TV shows for me.

Betrayal! Star Wars believed in you. But one Solo later, and you are contemplating a trade to team Westeros.
You're never gunna let me live it down. I still wake in cold sweats over it underperforming according to Red Alert's predictions

I'll get straightened out as soon as the first EP9 teaser hits, don't you worry.

My biggest plot expectation is the same one that I have had since the first Season. Jaime will kill Cersei. Other than that, I am not going to make any grand predictions. It does seem likely that either Jon or Dany bite it taking out the Night King.

GoT series finale, Star Wars Ep.9 , and Avengers 4.
So many franchises closing a chapter in 2019.

Damn. I didn't even realize this.

And I really hope EP9 is not the last we see in SW.

Pretty solid predictions. I think you pretty much have to kill Jon or Dany to make the finale feel like there were actual stakes.

About to read the article now, but do they give any indication as to when the final season is going to come out lol? Is Summer 2019 too soon?

As excited as I am for Sapochnik, I can't wait to hear what Ramin Djawadi brings in the final season. That man is quickly becoming one of the GOATS. I hope he does the next series.

When I think about this ending I wonder for GRRM feels. How close will this be to his ending? How does it feel to have the big finale to your magnum opus be portrayed first on tv instead of your original books? Does he feel like changing some stuff in his original ending because of this?

I think the ending is going to be practically the same .It's how they get there that's going to be significantly worse.

I wonder what the viewership will be for this final season. The numbers were already pretty crazy last season.

Let's just hope we aren't getting anymore episodes like last season where I literally wtf at the timeline and bs decisions and events due to crappy writing, because that would be frustrating knowing this story isn't getting any other ending than what this show gives us.
