Do people not have sleep modes for their PC and monitors? I don't think I've willingly shut mine down since I built it last year (not counting reboots for updates)

Sleep/Hibernate is just as good. Actually takes less power than going through the boot process.

I turn mine on when I wake. Turn it off when I sleep. Disabled fast boot too. (but it's okay cuz 960 EVO lol.) Fast boot is bad because it never actually shuts down your Windows or forces drivers to reload, it just saves an image of current session and stores it on your HDD to resume it next time you turn your PC on. Boo to that.

Fresh start for Windows everyday is good. The ol' "Have you tried restarting it?" adage is a thing for a reason.

Why would you even want to? It's not 98 days anymore, NT kernel can handle uptimes longer than 24 hours.
So having a computer running 24/7 for no apparent reason is a thing? It's not a server you are running. I rather have my computer shut down when I am not using it and save money

Damn lol....

Well what are the chances of me getting a dead 2080ti if it's a prebuilt pc :x?

I don't think you're welcome here anymore.

I shut down my PCs too

When is it a issue if you don't shut down ?

Had a customer who had his computer in sleep mode and never shut down once in 3 months straight, ended up being slow. Shut down the PC and turned it back on - no issues ;p

Like I get the Smash hype, it's one of the only reasons I want a Switch ATM but Christ how do people fall for fake leaks every time? You even had journalist telling people don't believe it this time and all people did was get mad at them for saying that.

Smash, much like Pokemon, is just one of those things that I'll never understand.

But then again I love Farm Sim and Fallout 4, so wtf do I know, lol.

If there's one game I really need to come out on Steam it's Tetris Effect. Now is a time to regret I sold my console lol.

I'll play Puyo Puyo Tetris until then.

What is the chance of it coming to PC? Both Lumines and Rez have found their way.

I don't really get it. My computer boots in like 10s, there's no need to keep it running. I also unplug my PS4 and TV when not using it.

I haven't turned mine off for over a year, not counting a couple power outage cases. I've been rebooting it occasionally though (damn you, windows update). Everything works fine.

Keeping it running for days? I definitely turn mine off when I'm not using it, same for my other devices.

I used to keep my PC on for days before but now I turn it off even if I am stepping out for 30 mins. I heard its better to just leave it on as turning the PC off and on again is not good for it.

Thanks to SSDs computers take like 5 seconds to boot. Why the heck should I leave it running all night and when I'm sitting at work?
That's at least 16 hours a day I won't touch my PC.

I do shut down my PC when I'm not using it, but one thing I've stopped using recently is sleep mode due to having issues with my OC'd 7700k system not waking up from sleep and resetting its OC as a result.

I turn my computer off every night or if I'm going to be out for a while. It boots in 15 seconds, so I don't know why I wouldn't.

Ever since I started doing this (about 5 years ago), about 80% off the little hitches or glitches or stutters or oddities have completely disappeared. Windows likes being shut down.

Also, the "it's harder on your computer to turn it off and on" is complete and utter horse shit.

I turn mine off when not using it for an extended period of time. No way would I leave it running overnight or when I'm not home.

Yes, but it's based on what I consider ridiculous presumptions. Thinking the power is gonna stay on? Think again!

Besides, I don't know which OS I'm gonna use next time, and the hibernations can be messed up by as little as presence of another OS, so, umm. No.
