Edit Updating OP with news story. She wasn't calling the cops.

Rashsaan Muhammad and Mattie Khan were waiting for their order inside Little Big Burger on North Mississippi Avenue when they noticed a woman standing across the street, looking at their parked car.

"She looked odd, but it didn't alarm us," Muhammad told the Mercury in a phone interview. Only when the African American couple had their to-go bags and were walking back toward the car did they sense something was up. According to Muhammad, the woman was on the phone when they reached the car. Khan said she could hear the woman describing their vehicle and reading off the license plate number.

Update: According to a source close to the woman (who asked to remain anonymous), she was on the phone with Portland Bureau of Transportation's parking enforcement hotline—not the police.

....

The video doesn't show much of the car, but it's clearly sticking out an inch or two in front of a curb where a crosswalk begins. Muhammad said he knew the space was a tight fit when he parked, but knew it wouldn't take him more than 10 minutes to pick up their order.

"She didn't try to talk to us. She just called the police," Muhammad said. "Why would people spend the time just trying to make our lives harder instead of talking it out like neighbors?"

While it's very possible the caller didn't know the car was owned by an African American before calling the police, the video joins the long list of viral clips we've seen this past year of white women calling the police on people of color over minor violations—whether its for using a charcoal grill in a public park or for an eight-year-old girl selling water in public without a permit. Most recently, a white woman called the police after seeing a black man babysitting two white children in Georgia.

Gotta get them to admit it's a frivolous call and they are doing it to be a prick and knock their asses the fuck out.

Also, if you have come to tell me assaulting racists are bad, save it for your Thanksgiving dinner where you'll concede this point to your racist MAGA uncle in order to eat his dry ass turkey in "peace".

I have a white neighbor that accuses me of random things every time she sees me in the parking lot. Sadly it's fairly obvious shes got some serious mental illness and paranoia going on. But these people in these videos? Nah, they just assholes.

I will never understand for the life of me why such folks want to police others so badly. Do you have nothing better to do with your life?

"i've been here ten minutes"

holy shit just move on
Sigh... I can't even imagine wasting that much time if someone actually did something wrong right in front of where I lived, nevermind them, god forbid, just parking a car near a sidewalk.

But then again, I'm not a white woman.

From what I can tell looking really closely at the video, their car might be taking a couple of inches from a ramp.

I wouldn't even stop if I saw that.

It is actually dangerous though as it anyone attempting to leave that alleyway will not be able to see up and down the street and will have to edge their nose into the street blind. That is why most intersections don't allow any parking withing 15 feet of the corner.

I wouldn't call the police, but damn I do hate when people just park wherever the hell they want with no consideration of others.

God, white lady, just mind your own business. If Portland is like Vancouver B.C., if their car IS illegally parked, it'll be towed in approximately 15 seconds anyway.

Will probably get shit for this but I don't think there's enough evidence in this one that she's being racist. She's being an asshole and extremely petty and wasting everyone's time for calling the police for such a frivolous reason, but usually these vids include some choice quotes that make it obvious why they decided to be community watch people out of the blue. Not saying she isn't and maybe more around the story will confirm it, but I don't think there's enough here in the video to justify her losing her job.

These racist white women (that have made the news) can almost occupy an entire wing of a building with white padded walls at this point. Perfect safe space away from all the scary black people.

Actually, it'd be better if the walls were black.

of course, white people still think they're better than everyone and police everyone around them, from a global scale to a neighbourhood scale.

I got called on someone for parking too close to the crosswalk... IT WAS A MARKED EFFIN PARKING SPOT!!! Yes, it was a white person calling on a black person. The person was literally two inches over the line. I took pictures and the driver kinda got upset because he thought I was about to write a ticket. The caller smiled. Gentleman asked if he was about to get a ticket, and he had an attitude about it. I told him, "No sir. I'm taking pictures so that when this person goes to complain that I didn't do my job, I can show the admin how are time is being wasted."

The caller was pretty upset at that point. He did make a complaint. Of course he told the story completely different than how it went. Apparently I was rude, yelled at him, called him racist. Well, body cam don't lie. hehe Unfortunately, like this, I've seen minorities get called on for the most frivolous things that white people weren't called on.

I'll be honest, I haven't been around white women for a while, at home, work, socializing, etc. But is this like some kind of organized book club thing?

(checks yelp)

At best shit like this just shows how many people have a fundamental misunderstanding of what police are for, and what they can and will do in a given situation.

But it's probably just straight-up racism.

Don't they file those complaints to another police officer, opening up for arrest under "False report to a peace/police officer" charge? And if they weren't charged, why would you be a part of an org that doesn't want to charge people for disrupting social order, aka your damn jobs?

Shit like this is why I don't even fuck with "the good ones" because y'all dont do your jobs with the same "zeal" as one would do if the situation were reversed.

You're gonna get shit for this because no one gives a fuck about your intent if your impact or actions are racist. You don't get to decide what is and ain't racist as you weren't the victim here, they were.

Cities is where rules like this are in effect. A mess of confusing signs where there's like room for one compact car between "NO PARKING FROM HERE TO CORNER" signs

I'm on her side. But not calling the cops, call the fucking parking commissionaires or whatever it is in you're area. They'll come, assess and ticket/tow.

Don't park in the crosswalk. If you do, expect to get towed.

You're impeding pedestrians and people with disabilities trying to get off the curb.
