40 hrs in and safe for me to say this is the game of the generation for me. I can't wait to see what they add for online.
I bought that treasure map, and it led me to 2 gold bars.
What an odd thing to do on Tinder of all places.
I would take a couple of days away from it, don't play it for a little bit and I think you'll find yourself wanting to come back. Being bombed by that kind of spoiler sucks a lot but I feel like this game is more of journey and not a destination experience. I think it's worth it to complete it anyway for yourself.

the map is misleading, it s not on or between the rock poles, it s on the high hill behind them, but you have the good location i think. Climb on top of the hill drop down on a slightly lower ledge in the east side, then jump across a small gap, the map is hidden behind a button prompt in a fissure on the left iirc

Also, is it true you at one point loose all your money, so the best thing is to upgrade the camp woth your funds instead of keeping it all on you?

No it's not that one. It's a literal X marked on a tree, but I can't interact with it. Do I need a shovel to dig by the tree or something?

A fence is a vendor that will appear on your map who will buy certain items from you.
The other thing is if you have a high bounty that you cannot afford to pay. it is easier to put all your money into the camp and then surrender to the sheriff. you will be put in jail and the bounty will be erased.
So I lost one of my guns. It's no longer on my horse. What do I do now, buy it again at full price or hope for it to drop somewhere?

Honestly Chapter 1 and 2 were an extended tutorial. When you get to Chapter 3, is where everything finally opens up and clicks. I would reccomrec doing all the missions in Chapter 1 and 2. Then when you get to Chapter 3 is when you should mess around and start going and doing side activities.

I just killed a 3 star deer. perfect condition. perfect shot. when i went back to camp to donate it to pearson it said "poor deer carcass. displaying major damage". wtf

The game is really something else whenever it manages to "let you go". It clashes hard for me whenever the old Rockstar mission design comes up.

Go into your settings and turn down deadzone, turn aim acceleration all the way up, and change sprint to toggle. Should alleviate slme of the control problems

The one you give to Mary you can only get from one specific cabin. Think that same cabin also gives you the story book for Jack.
Just look them up on YouTube. I did for all those side items no way I would have found those on my own.
Similar happened to me, saw a pristine white tail deer, killed it with a single perfect headshot, went to pick it up and it was poor. No idea what I did wrong
Thought I had a bug and the game gave me the same event twice. Turned out it was just the same guy getting bit by another snake. Loved the dialog on that one.
Sure you used the right weapon? Apparently certain weapons are required for certain animals.
I don't think the game does let you sell key items.
Closing in on the end, and it's super interesting seeing the characters become more like what they are in the first game and their motivations for it.

I was tempted to do the same in a similar situation, but 5$ (down from 10) is cheap.

if you don't use the right weapon type it will damage the pelt.
my problem was more, i used the right weapon type, and when i picked it up it was still perfect, but i think because i didn't skin it, i took the whole carcass, degradation damaged it, but it happened way too fast
The legendary buck trinket is either broken, or the description is misleading.
I've killed countless "good" animals and still only receive "good" pelts. I still need to kill pristine quality animals for perfect pelts.
My guess is that it only increases the pelt quality if you don't get a clean kill. But I always get clean kills because I'm the fucking hunt master. So this trinket is useless.
