Best part is that it could have been worse.
It could have been this.

Is there some stereotype about skittles I'm not aware of?

Nobody can do that and honestly believe its not racist. It clearly is and they know it to be the case, they just hide behind the costume excuse.

I understand being insensitive enough to not care about blackface. I deal with my racist mother every day.

What I don't understand is the stupidity and ignorance of people that still use blackface despite the societal blowback is always brings. How can a nurse live under a rock? It's pretty clear at this point that, despite your feelings on the matter, blackface has been deemed unacceptable.

Must live in a fucking bubble.

Seems like good honest AMERICANS can't even wear blackface in public and post pictures of themselves in blackface on social media without their places of work denying their right to FREE EXPRESSION in form of blatant racism!

What is America coming to? Some racists get fired for being racist in pictures, and other racists get elected president of the entire country for being racist lots of times on TV.

I'm getting mixed signals here. How do I know when not to be racist???

Im definitely in the minority here, but i dont have a problem with this at all, blackface or not or even people "dressing up" as stereotypical Mexican with a sombrero and a poncho. People think that everything is racist.
Reminds me of a video from last week.

It isn't anyone else's job to coach an idiot through their stupidity.
Come to europe and you'll see how difficult it's actually to fire someone for stupidity. Had this happened in France or Sweden, you would have union vs. hospital showdown in no time. And I still would stand with the union, since I do think people can improve their behaviour.

Unfortunately racism, is one of those issues that can wreck work envoirment completly and every now and then I do wonder if such assholes would just be better let go instantly.

Never ceases to amaze me that these idiots don't seem to have a moment of "Uh, I dunno, this seems like a BAD idea..."

Or they do and just don't give a fuck.
Either way- name and shame every time!

I understand why you are all upset but is it possible they actually like jayz and beyonce? Idk

If you live in America you should be aware of our culture and history

You can dress as JayZ and Beyonce without resorting to blackface and ignorance of this issue in our country... especially with racial divisions being reignited...

Like come on. The only logical explanation here is they are either really that stupid or they were deliberate iin not giving a fuck about the implications

Which of those two options do you believe to be most likely based on what we know

How is she not in blackface, because it's brown?

I'm sorry do fucking what now?

She is very clearly doing blackface.

She is very clearly NOT DOING Blackface.

There is a fine line of going as a black person and blackface.
She hasn't highlighted her Lips to appear Fuller and and more red, unlike her Man.
Her Man is full Blackface. She just made her skin color darker more orangy.

And everything negative that comes with blackfacing is not found in her outfit.

Yeah, I did not get the memo that if it ain't black it's okay to do blackface.
I have a feeling that poster is one of those "it's not blackface because it lacks the exaggerated lips and eyes" morons.
So let's put that idiotic argument to bed right now.

Wait so there is a distinction now?!? Really?!? Because it's still fucked no matter how you note the differences.

Your problem is thinking that blackface is only the minstrel variety, it's not.

It's not about what 'people' think, it's about what's offensive to people. Have those two heroes of freespeech in the OP go around and ask black people if they're offended by their super costumes.

Is there any way for a white person to dress up as a black person for Halloween without it being considered offensive to the majority? Is there a respectful way to do it?

This "maybe they didn't know" bullshit is ridiculous most of the time, but blackface was literally a national news story last week because of Megan Kelly. They knew, they just didn't give a fuck.

War on Halloween Blackface is going to be the new War on Christmas, isn't it?

We are going to split hairs on this?

What about posting a picture on social media with your husband doing blackface.

An equally stupid and unacceptable thing to parade in a public space. There should be no consequences for apathy, stupidity or at worst blatant disrespect and disregard for others?

There is no argument here in my mind that she should own the consequences of her actions as so many other have.

For one it's PragerU, look up their other propaganda videos. They'll cherry pick interviews. I'd imagine you'll find some black peoples who don't care if someone does blackface but as a society we aren't okay with it. Wearing a sombrero isn't even close to the same level as blackface either but that's a completely different argument
