1. Not really feeling it.
2. I literally have about 50 games in my possession that i want to play.
3. Waiting for the PC port, and then cheaper price.

Problem 1: No PC version yet. I'm not supporting Sony anymore, and buying an Xbox would be redundant.
Problem 2: I have a tendency to dislike RockStar games.

When the PC Version is out, I'm still not sure I'll get it. Probably just admire some screenshots in the PC Screen Shots thread.

A few reasons, some listed, some not...

  1. Games are $80 in Canada, and to get the ultimate edition it would cost me at minimum $100 which I can't afford to spend right now.
  2. I am feeling some open world fatigue. Between work, social life and everything else I can only spend so much time playing so many open world games.
  3. I haven't beaten the first RDR game yet, I've owned it since 2013 on Xbox 360 but haven't really bothered plowing through it untill now.

Rockstar's games have never been my cup of tea. I never got into GTA V. But I am curious about RDR2 and I will buy it eventually. I probably won't finish it or even get close, though. From what I've seen so far it does not impress gameplay wise.

With a new baby, I need games that are can be enjoyed in 5mins bursts as well as 5 hours sessions. I have be playing mostly on Switch, which has been perfect for this and don't even have much patience for my PS4 to start up and waiting for the system update every time.

Time is the most precious commodity nowadays. I never finish Rockstar games, I enjiy the world and lose interest after a while. I might pick it up when it inevitably gets remastered next gen.

User Warned: Derogatory language.
I dont like first person shooters and the long load size is retarded. I ain't downloading nearly 100gb to play a game when I dont give a fuck about 4k or graphics.

For me, if I game is watchable and doesn't crash frequently I'm good. I just don't need all the other nonsense to enjoy games and therefore not a fan of 100gb downloads just to play.

I have little choice.
My roommate currently lives and breathes in RDR2, when I finally wrestle the Xbox back I've already been watching her play for a few hours and want to see something else. So I just play Forza Horizon 4.

I just don't have the time.

I like Rockstar games in general, I loved the first RDR but this one just seems so slow and overly tedious in places that I just don't have enough free time to commit to it.

Have never enjoyed Rockstar's characters, its way of bludgeoning in filmic references, its narratives or anything about playing its games. Everything I've ever read about the Housers has also rubbed me the wrong way.

Easy pass.

Will borrow from my brother when he is done with it. I am in no hurry to play this game and apparantly there are also some more or less severe bugs that might be ironed out when I play it in a few weeks.

Wow. Didnt realize this many people weren't into R* games in general. I'm not either but my taste dont seem to go with the masses.

Worst $120 I ever spent on gaming was GTA 4 and 5. How could I not like two games that pretty much received 10s across the board.
Yeah, I don't get it either.

Reviewers keep showering Rockstar games with 10s for doing everything exceptionally well apart from playing well.

Few reasons:

1) Westerns as a genre have no interest for me - I find the whole setting and themes pretty boring. This one is completely personal and I realise it's my issue, not the games. I've tried - I even got the first RDR but they just don't compel me.
2) This one is tied to the first one - open world games have to be really good for me to play them - I don't really have the time to try and get through a massive open world game, particularly ones that are fairly slow paced.
3) Too many games to play - I'm currently playing through my SNES Mini Classic so that's taking up a lot of my time.

All those together means that even though I am slightly interested - I like games that try and be a bit different, which it seems that RDR2 has tried to be - I'm probably going to pass on it. If I have nothing much to play one summer, I might get it then to fill the Summer Holidays.

PS4 Pro version is inferior, so may as well wait for PC.

Also, my only memory of RDR1 was at a friend's place where another friend usurped his console to play RDR doing inane shit while the rest of us had nothing to do but to watch instead of playing some multiplayer games.

It's fucking awesome. XboxOneX version is better because the console is more powerful. Makes sense.
But the game still looks amazing and is amazing to play.

Don't deprive yourself from a great game just because you can't stand it that another console has a slightly better version.

Waiting on PC version would have been a high scorer (maybe the highest) if you'd included that on the poll.

I can't deal with 30fps anymore. I bought Horizon Zero Dawn because it looks like exactly my kind of game, but I get headaches from how stuttery everything is and how laggy control feedback feels at such low framerates. One of my biggest gaming hopes is that when PS5 releases there will be 60fps patches for all these amazing PS4 exclusives I can't play =(

Waiting for the PC version.
Ended up buying GTA 5 once on PS3, then on PS4 (didn't thing it would end up on PC) and then on PC...
You are not fooling me again Rockstar. Your games are good, but not buy me three times and spend 150€ total on it good.

1) I am a pc only player

2) even if it came on pc I'm not interested, I think red dead redemption was an extremely overrated game that was really empty and boring after a while and also mechanically broken

I just don't have it in me right now to fight with Rockstars bag-of-marbles character movement. Looking at some gameplay online and all the realistic stuff - caring for your horse, hunting etc. - sounds...like the exact opposite of why I enjoy playing games. Normally I can stomach this stuff if I'm interested enough in the premise, but as soon as I found out it was based on Dutch's gang, I was completely unsold. Don't give a shit about those characters.

I'm sure it's a great game and I'll probably end up playing it at some point, but right now I'm really not interested.

Rockstar games, like most big budget open world games, are boring. I don't care about big detailed open worlds if playing the game isn't satisfying

I just put fatigue. I have way too many games to finish, and I am waiting for PC and a sale. I simply don't even care about games right now I have too many of them. Tons of high-quality releases to finish. Red Dead does look great though, and I am sure it will be worth the wait when I finally play it.

Why do we need threads like these?

No game is for everyone, people shouldn't have to provide reasons.

I half passed. I got bored with the first, and controls in rockstar games annoy me, so initially I decided not to buy.

Unfortunately I'm weak minded and bought it a day after release due to people saying how good the x version looks. I haven't played it yet, mind. Might start today, as Odyssey has a big update to download.

A multitude of things:

- Finally fell out of the Rockstar hype cycle loop when GTA5 dissapointed me, so I decided to sit out the launch of this game.
- Price at retail was way too fucking high for me. £50 for the base game is way less appealing when I can get other relevant more recent games for £10 - £20 less.
- Hearing that the same tedious movement and gunplay from their previous games carried over to this game as well was another strike.
- General open-world fatigue kicked in for me after Breath of the Wild last year, in no mood to play another any time soon.

Will probably buy it used much further down the line and try it then.

I replied 'Other'. The game looks great and a big achievement but I'm in no rush to buy it right now. I'll get it at some point but I've got other games in my backlog (Shenmue HD, Witcher 3 HotS, REmake) that I want to finish first before getting into such a huge game. And even then I'll be really torn between Odyssey and Read Dead.

I dislike open worlds, gave enough rockstar games a chance to know i won't be interested. I never payed much attention to it and pretty much didn't saw a single piece of information about this game since it's initial release.
In short. I simply don't care about the game.

A number of reasons. Primarily I can't stand Rockstar games .They feel awful to play and just don't click with me .

Then on top of that I am absolutely sick to death of open world games. And finally the game looks mind numbingly boring.

Combination of things. 90% of the Japanese games I like to play can be found on PC these days, and I don't see a reason to settle for lesser versions. Sony doesn't seem interested in securing them as exclusives, funding 1st party JRPG's, or giving more support/freedom to their Japan team. They left Gravity Rush out to die, then shut down servers much too early.

I don't like PSN or their policies. I've been caught up in their mass IP bans before, because they like to do that, ban whole ranges of IP addresses every-time they suffer a DDOS attack. Also got IP banned for sending picture messages between my accounts, when I asked why they cited the file sizes were suspicious and it was an auto-ban issued by the system but I guess they forgot to account for the fact that the PS4 Pro lets you capture 4K PNG's if you set it up in the options? Other than this, PSN is just meh in general, speed and reliability have always been iffy for me. Also not a fan of their OS decisions and slowness on that front. I find it very odd that custom themes took a step backwards from PS3 Era. (You used to be able to combine theme icons/music with custom wallpapers.)

Recently Sony US has started censoring Japanese games: https://gematsu.com/2018/10/visual-...aystation-hindered-by-recent-sony-regulations

On the flipside Steam went the opposite way and opened the floodgates to everything. In the end I'll support the platform which lets me make decisions for myself.

Got a Pro but not in a rush to play it. Will wait for PC, even so, no terribly hype about, I just don't think R* are that great, I never finished RDR1.

I play games for fun and I knew this just looked boring.

As expected the controls are garbage and the minute to minute game play is not good (echoed in reviews). Doing all those open world boring chores doesn't do it for me. Sure it does it for people who wants to immerse themselves in the world though lol.

I will eventually buy it, but I have a lot of games that I have recently bought and that I still have to play, and the cost is too high at lunch.

My PS4 and TV aren't set up at the moment. Launch day came and went and many people that I know are down on the game, so my want to get the game died down. I'll pick it up down the line but at the moment it doesn't seem essential.
