The more time passes the more I loathe UI and the ToP.
Why even make it 45 minutes long? A ton of complaints could have been solved if it was made to be like 4 hours long or something.
UI is just needless and should have probably stayed with Omen, while the rest of the tournament was solved by actual teamwork, especially since MUI amounted to nothing.
I totally disagree the more times passes I realise its one of the best arcs in the entire series.

I'm the opposite. Time has done nothing but improve my view on the ToP.

We need another arc that involves the cast and the other universes.

The first half of the arc is indeed great. Exhibition and recruitment are the best parts of Super with some of the most consistent, solid writing they managed to come up with. Coupled with a bunch of good character writing/interactions, a good portion of it was as good as some of my favorite parts of the original series.

The tournament itself was better imo

I think Super has aged better than later Z at least. Sure, there are some slower parts, but I think the action holds up, and when it gets good, it gets really good.

The last two episodes really elevated my view on the series in the short run. With those removed and being more distant from that high, it really hits home how much the tournament dragged, how poor the animation was on a whole, how limited and back-loaded Jiren's characterization was, etc.

There really are two versions of Zs to compare to. The first portion aka Saiyan through Freeza arcs or second half the Cell through Buu arcs and I like Super better than anything in the second half of Z.

I watch episodes every day lmao.

And this doesn't take into account the Latam episodes.

There are some expertly directed episodes of Z that Super doesn't even come close to imo.
I actually see it the other way around. Super at its very best had better animation and choreography than anything in Z, like the conclusion of UI Goku vs Kefla or the ending of the tournament. It's just that it rarely gets there while Z was more consistent. Even when the art itself had noticeable lows and you can count the frames changing one by one (Goku vs Vegeta in the Saiya Saga looked much worse than I remembered) the choreography was still there, and there's a general better "flow" to the battles, where it's more noticeable that characters are actually getting weaker though the battle and the blows "count".

I liked the lead up better than the tourney but that's not to say the tourney wasn't already more enjoyable than a good deal of the Buu Saga

Exhibition match and buildup is some of my favourite Dragon ball ever and is only let down by the fact that the poor other universes and a few of the early fights aren't executed very well

2nd half of the ToP is much better at this but still doesn't quite live up to the hype I had from the buildup tho

I grow fonder of the ToP as time goes by.

I like Super a lot and it had some great moments here and there... but it's not even in DB or Z's league.

Only times it can compete is when it comes to animation. Those last two episodes probably featured the best animation in the history of Dragon Ball TV. They went all out.

the saiyan saga and namek saga are some top tier shonen...the android saga started off pretty good but once cell absorbed 17 it started deteriorating....the less said about the buu saga the better

Super got ridiculously better the moment Nakamura and Nagamine took over. I never cared for modern Dragon Ball before but Universe Survivor was a jam. Episodes like 109, 110, 116, 125, 130, and 131 are some of the best in the franchise history., and characters like 17, Caulifla and (new) Freeza are some of my favourites now. It had its problem and not every single episode was good, obviously, but I think it holds up better than late Buu Saga overall. Not in the same league as that of the better DB stuff, but it's still a level of quality I never expected from modern DB.

Hopefully what's next is even better with Nagamine taking over entirely and reshaping the series directional and artistic identity with the upcoming movie.

118 was Gohan and Piccolo vs the U6 Namekians and Goku vs the discount Ribrianne squad right?

I agree that the ToP time limit was pointless since it didn't matter at all... but because it didn't matter at all, I don't see how it ruined anything. It had no impact on anything.

Also, Ultra Instinct is totally cool. It looks cool and I appreciate that they went a different way in coming up with a new transformation as opposed to just extending the Super Saiyan line even further. And, unlike something like Super Saiyan Blue, UI actually feels like a noticeable level-up in how the characters (well, Goku and Jiren) fight. Compare that to the SSB Goku/Golden Frieza fight from the second movie, which was fun but didn't really look or feel any different from, say, SSJ1 Goku vs. Frieza back in the day.

LatAm dub so far:

- It's always good to see Kid Goku's and Kid Kuririn's voices back from OG DB.
- Heck yeah 17 has his old VA and I still enjoy his voice. Can't wait for future episodes where he'll feel more familiar with the role.
- These days are the Gohan&Piccolo episodes so I'm excited to see them back on fighting once more. Also I think we'll get to hear Caulifla/Kale/Brianne this week?

Wait even the old VA for 17 is back? HNGGGGG- And OMG Kid Goku too.

Thank god the days with the Kai dub shenanigans are behind.
