Holy cow, the mission in Pephka.
Minotaur was badass and one tough cookie. It took me two tries to figure his patterns.
That thing is incredibly intimidating to fight with in melee.

Damn reduced upgrade costs. Would be nice if it retroactively refunded gold and materials from pre-patch upgrades lol

I think that 50% mercenary rank discount is even on top of a general price reduction. I'm curious how much it will be after the patch. I don't care about the drachmae (I currently have 1.200.000), but 1000+ hides to upgrade one legendary item is a bit steep...

I'm kind of disappointed the notes don't mention any changes to the Beast Master skill, but I guess they can't just rework skills without extensive playtesting.

Edit: There will also be a short (+/- 30 minute) maintenance tomorrow, which will impact online features like photos, daily orichalcum quests and the Olympian shop: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/1951308-Scheduled-Maintenance-November-1

Maintenance will begin at 2 pm UTC.

Chapter 7 spoilers:

So I helped mom on Naxos and I'm now off to see my father on... Thera? I've already been there, plus I've seen other spoilers on the matter already, so I guess this is where the third story arc starts.

Myrrine seemed pretty down about having to leave Timo behind... so I knocked her out and recruited her as a lieutenant.

Oh fuck.

I have a question about post-game: spoilers.

I completed the Atlantis side quest stuff before I finished the last quest, I got a cut scene with modern-day Kassandra holding Pythagoras' staff. Then, before anything else happened it said "there is still too much to discover about Kassandra's story, and then it jumped to Kassandra back outside in Ancient Greece. I took this to mean that I needed to beat the game to get additional cut-scenes... but I beat the game and nothing happened.

Is that all there is too it? I still have a couple of cultists left to kill, but I was hoping for a bit more to that Atlantis sequence. Is there anything?

thatsit. We know for a fact that the second DLC is
Atlantis
so we will probably know more.

edit: holy shit where was this when I was 100%ing it :(

Been playing this game since launch. 45hrs+ in and I still have so much to do. This game will last me for the rest of the year for sure :3

New patch coming tomorrow, and it looks like a biggy. New quality of life additions and a ton of bug fixes. And the patch will add the first story for The Lost Tales of Greece.

Oh shit it's big.

Fucking finally auto-crafting arrows. Also finally an alleged fix for the Evie bug.

Holy shit, they went overboard. Most of this is just monetary though unless this also affects the resource requirements, and let's be real, money isn't really an issue from ~level 16 onwards.

Also I wonder if Tier 1 has a hidden bonus behind it

I'm so disappointed by the performance of this game on PS4 Pro. There are constant textures loading in; pop-in is endemic -- especially when on the horse -- and whenever I use auto-travel the game just randomly freezes at intervals. Further to that, the bullshit map takes an age to load, in addition to the other menus. That's a huge oversight considering the amount of times you need to enter the menu to change gear, look up the map and select quests. So disappointing.

This game doesn't get enough credit for having such great controls and constructed world.

Everything from walking, running, climbing, swimming and horse riding is done smoothly and naturally with very few hitches.

And considering how absolutely fucking huge this games playable space is I have found VERY few glitches where I felt I should be able to climb something, or I got caught on a rock or something along those lines.

Whatever you may think of the busy work, or the story or the MTX. The developers over at Ubisoft deserve some massive credit for what they did here.

My only petpeeve is that the travel speed could have been a bit faster, both horse and boat seem just a bit too slow for the amount of traveling you do, even sailing speed makes me wish the boats had a motor.

Ubisoft deserves a lot of credit, but they got it last year.

I think Odyssey a [small] step down from Origins in most of those ways. I mean, Odyssey definitely is bigger and more complex, but Origins had smoother gameplay (not to mention a much more interesting world, vastly more coherent characters/deeper relationships, and significantly better storytelling).
I can't agree with this, and I adored Origins enough to 100% and go through a good half of a NG+.

While I prefer the map in Origins and thought Bayek, Aya and the first four major assassination targets were great, the story goes massively off the rails by the end.

I could quite easily tell you the plot or Odyssey, what all of its characters roles were in it and all of its major beats, but a year on from Origins and I'd struggle tell you anything apart from broad strokes, and even then I'm fuzzy.

There was an emotional depth and dignity to Bayek's character but the wider storytelling was a mess. It has fantastic individual stories in quests though, despite their more basic presentation. The whole Thebes and the Crocodile section was incredible.

Select the Contracts quests in the Message Board and complete them naturally as you play.

I went from Lvl. 40 to 50 in less than 10 hours thanks to them and at that point i only explored like 5 mainland areas and 3 islands and still on chapter 5.

The real grind in the game was for materials because upgrading equipment was super expensive but they are addressing that on the next patch by improving the discounts given in each rank of the Mercenaries system.

Yeah for some reason going from 40 to 50 was faster than going from 15-18 or from 25-30.

Upgrading legendary equipment (you know, the equipment you most want to upgrade) was very expensive. And since part of the appeal of taking down cultists and completing locations was assembling sets of gear, this expensive cost kind of ran counter to that.

64 hours in and level 46. I'm just starting the island of Paros with the launcher saying that I'm 54% done the main game. This is a game that just keeps on giving! According to the stats page, at full health, I have 44% chance to crit and +180% crit damage. Combined with my current level 2 Critical Assassination bonus of 250% (or +150%), the Stealth Master night damage bonus (I can't seem to find any info on how much the bonus is: for the sake of this calculation, I will assume +50%), and how they stack all of these bonuses (I'm going to assume additive with crit multiplying the final non-crit amount), my crit Critical Assassinations are probably doing about 540% of my assassin damage (or 5.4x). This seems to roughly approximate my experience where the prediction for my regular assassination seems to only do about 20% of an even-level mercenary's hp bar but then I instantly kill them with a crit Critical Assassination. A week ago, I had noted my assassin damage value and how much damage my opening did against a level 46 merc at level 37, and that damage was consistent with these rough calculations, particularly if the enemy armour value mitigated a portion of it (57,218 assassin damage doing 297,103 damage for a multiplier of 5.2x).

Is it just me or does the game all of a sudden throw a bunch of random sidequests towards the end? Early on, it felt like the sidequests were meaningful but I did one earlier which simply amounted to buying/stealing a spear for someone. Thought the ones with the yellow portrait were supposed to have a bit more meat to them.

It's very gratifying when you get near the top of the merc ladder and have your assassin abilities all maxed out, just hiding in the shadows and needing only one strike to take out the highest-rated mercs.

78 hours in, just hit level 50 and finished chapter 6. I think the recommended level for this chapter was 28 or something lol. Anyway I'm really enjoying this game, even more so than Origins and that was pretty much my GOTY. Kassandra is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters ever. I love her!

Also I'm starting to wonder if I already figured out the identity of the ghost of kosmos... or maybe the game is throwing a bunch of red herrings at me. If I'm right, it is way too on the nose...
I have the feeling it's Aspasia :/
. Hope I'm wrong, but nevertheless I'm looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds. So far it's been pretty good.

Wasn't this patch supposed to introduce a buy-all option for resources at the blacksmith? I don't see it.

Anyway, Arena spoilers:

That was a nice way to wrap things up. I liked the how the hole in the center of the graveyard, there since the beginning, was replaced with a monument for Skoura after your last scene with Maion.

Those dialogue options, though. Being able to tell Skoura his daughter wouldn't be proud as he lay dying, thinking he could finally face her? Telling Maion you will remember Skoura as a sad, broken old man? I have no words.

Most of the upgrade costs were fine and I always had a massive surplus. Wood was the exception; that stuff was highway robbery. Glad that got changed.

If by boost you mean rowing, lol you're not getting any faster

Maybe you don't know you can change speed on your boat like another guy back in this thread? It's x on xbox after you leave shallow water, no idea what button it is on pc

Why use boost in the first place? Travel speed feels like it's the faster option by a good margin.

I always put the ship on travel speed and check Era on my phone while keeping half an eye on the screen so I won't crash into something.

Got my first 4K TV, and man, this game looks ROOOOOUGH on it with the Xbox One OG. You can really see that low resolution and low LOD at a distance now. Doesn't help that I didn't just go from 1080p to 4K, but I also went from 42" to 60".

I wanted to see how a 4K or even "4K" game looks on it, or at least a close approximation, so I looked up a 4K HDR video of Spider-Man on PS4 Pro, and holy craaaaap. I couldn't believe it. I've been successfully holding out on the iterative consoles but that made it really hard to do, lol. Whole time I was just saying "no, no, this shouldn't be possible."

The fight against the Erymanthian boar is so fucking garbage. Man I hate the combat in this game.

Is that the one that farts all the time? I was OP as fuck and still had some trouble with that one. Got him on attempt #3. You have to use hit-and-run tactics. If you're not attacking, just keep backpedaling to stay just outside the range of his AoE farts.

Are you guys going into these fights with just one bar or something? That's the only time I ever had trouble with one of the legendary animal fights. There are so many OP abilities in the game.

I am dying for them to implement a real bounty hunter system. It'd be so much better than the bland daily quests, it would make better use of the enormous world they've created and the bones of it are already there with the Cultist system. Let the player pick a target off the board, the game will tell you where three clues are located (ex: a soldier in Despina Fort is carrying a clue, Nikos the Furious has a clue, a clue is located by a shrine on Naxos) and then you go do your thing. It seems like it would be easy to randomly generate clues and targets and it's certainly more engaging than "Kill 5 Athenian Archers".

Also fully guarded nation leaders are basically loot pinatas. If you're fully geared for assassination, Rush Assassination instantly kills the leader and 3 of his guards. You get 2-3 epics on average and then just fast travel to the next leader. Fastest way to grind gear that I've found.
