The Switch sold 24,07m units of software last quarter(only games with a retail presence are counted), a big number that will make Nintendo smash its software forecast for the fiscal year (100m). These sales seem to be coming from a lot of different games, so, in anticipation of the big quarter ahead us, I thought it could be a good time to sum up Switch's biggest performers.
Thanks to Nintendo financial reports since Switch's launch, we are able to give an estimate of the number of games that sold over 1m on Switch. They always mention the number of games (with a retail presence) that sold over 1m, but for the names we'll need to do, sometimes, a little bit of speculation.
Confirmed Million-sellers (15) :
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Zelda : BotW
- Splatoon 2
- Mario + Rabbids : Kingdom Battle (Ubisoft)
- ARMS
- 1-2 Switch
- Mario Tennis Aces
- Kirby Star Allies
- Donkey Kong Country : Tropical Freeze
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2
- Super Mario Party
- Pokkén
- Octopath Traveler (Square Enix)
- Stardew Valley (Chucklefish)
2 million-sellers (confirmed) during FY2017 (April 17-March 18) to choose among :
- Rocket League (Psyonix) ?
- Skyrim (Bethesda) ?
- FIFA 18 (EA Sports) ?
- other ?
2 million-sellers (confirmed) during the 2 first quarters of FY2018 (April 18-Sep. 18) to choose among :
- Minecraft (Microsoft) ?
- Crash Bandicoot (Activision) ?
- other ?
List is not exhaustive. There are games that could have sold 1m across multiple fiscal years (not confirmed/educated guess) :
- Sonic Mania (SEGA)
- Super Bomberman R (Konami) (~1m, months ago)
- FIFA 18 (EA)
- Monster Hunter GU/XX (Capcom)
- Snipperclips (Nintendo)
-...
I could update this list in the future, but for now it is interesting to see that Nintendo software is stronger than ever and a lot of 3rd party games in different genres are having great sales too.
Feel free to correct me if I missed something.
