Yeah I believe him a lot less now when it comes to the earlier story of his. Shout out to Dying Light 2 I guess.

Holy editorial title OP. Couldn't you just say Chris Avellone talk about Obsidian?

Chris needs to take his L and move on, Obsidian will soon be brought by Microsoft and continue to do great things without him, now without the financial security concerns of the past.

Yeah this isn't a loaded thread at all...

I don't see what's petty here. He seemingly is being told stuff that is going on at obsidian and parsing what it means. It is true that Josh took a vacation after PoE 2 shipped, he didn't even work on the DLCs. So it's possible all this could have taken place.

Seems like he's just talking about his opinion of what's going on at Obsidian giving his experience there. Not really sure what's so horrible about the OP quote other than him being blunt about it.

I read you op 3 times now trying to piece together what's going on. Some context would be great to understand why "it's still correct"?
OP doesn't like avellone so he called him a nazi

I'm a lot more skeptical about his earlier claims with the Microsoft rumor going around. They wouldn't bother if there were management issues on the scale he claimed in his earlier posts (and presumably they would have access to all of Obsidian's financials). I guess we'll see how that ends up.

Why on Earth is bad-mouthing people over a situation he has literally no first-hand knowledge of.

And yes OP's description is accurate.

Schreier's book didn't paint the prettiest picture about Obsidian management.

Man, I used to respect Avellone so much, too.

Same. I still love and respect his games, but his behaviour of late has been extremely unprofessional. I get being mad about getting de-ownered and kicked out, but he's been talking shit about everyone in public and I wonder if his comments put the rank and file Obsidian employees in danger (implying strongly that MS should not purchase Obsidian being one example). Apparently every problem at Obsidian is the fault of others and none of it his - I find it difficult to side with people who think like that.

Lord knows Feargus has made a ton of bone-headed mistakes, but you cant offload 100% of the blame when you're a part-owner.

I mean, it's not like RPGCodex hides the fact that they're full of nazis and white supremacists.

I'm sure Chris Avellone is not any of those things, but he still decides to post there.

My brain did a flip for a second, thinking Stormfront had a gaming section.

OP I found it appalling your calling Chris a Nazi just because you don't love him. Disgusting.

You only have to look at every game Obsidian has ever made to see they have management isssues

Whether or not his claims are true I couldn't say but it's pretty well known that Obsidian's management is a mess and pretty much always has been. They've been screwed by pubs for sure but they've also missed deadlines in the past and in Alpha Protocol's case they spent like a year not even knowing wtf they wanted to do or how to make the game (and chris was involved with that game). They've never been the easiest developer to work with and it's probably why they've stopped getting meaningful projects since stick of truth.

Jeez people OP is clearly referencing rpgcodex with that. Accusations are especially dangerous when you have low comprehension.

I'm not saying their management isn't a mess, but his claims went way beyond simple mismanagement.

I still respect him. If you're really into creative prowess and passion on your work it pisses you off to see people take a complacent route. Maybe it's uncalled for to voice your opinions for colleagues to leave publically but he's honest and it comes from a place of caring not outright toxicity.

Good, Obsidian is a shady company that lies, tries to cover up sexual harassment, fires pregnant woman, fires employees who filed workers comp, lies to their team then lays them off, pays shitty, among other things. Thankfully they got bought so maybe now they can start paying all the lawsuits they have against them.

Eh I was with you right up until here. I can't really buy that a lot of this isn't just straight bitterness.

Not all of it mind you, but a lot.

The only context the OP gives is a one line intro about something stormfront related then a picture that isn't whinging at all and then a loaded ending. Great OP making right there for literally anyone who has not heard of Stormfront or RPG Codex.

Heck, what is this petty attitude suppose to be? What did Chris do? Context is key when calling someone petty or still hung up on a company.
