That's a shame, but I don't blame you. Even before the grinch stuff, it always seemed like leaking stuff was a thankless job at best.
That's what you should have done in the first place, even if your intentions were good it should be obvious by now that certain people deserve every bit of disappointment and frustration that they are/were going to get.
