MediEvil Remake | Gameplay Trailer | PS4 (2019)

The combat looks like MediEvil 1. As it should. So you can't please everyone as it seems. I like it.
Loved this game when I was a kid, looking forward to experiencing the game again with my son next year.
As long as they don't price it above £30 this should do fine. Once thebsales die down they can sell it for £10 after 6 months.
Just picked up MediEvil for the first time a few weeks ago. Yes, it's definitely aged, but I adjusted and had a great time! I'm happy to see that the combat and controls seem faithful to the original, but it'll no doubt be a point of contention.

Why specifically call this a remake instead of remaster then? I could go play the PS1 copy on my Vita.
Looks very faithful to the original. Was never a fan of the series myself but I'm happy for the fans.
Because it's a remake. Do you know what a remaster is? Just a resolution bump and some textures are updated, not rebuilt from the ground up.
This is sow eird tbh seeing that this game is kinda using UE4 for the remake while this is a first party game while the remakes of Crash and Spyro did use their proprietary engines and looked better and more unique than this. Moreover, there are some instances in the trailerr where the game lags. first I thought it was my video and then I rewatched and the lags occured in the same locations.
I expected a little much more from a remake tbh. Something within the levels of Crash and Spyro. I feel a little disappointed.
Edit: First it started as a joke made by some fan using UE4. Dunno if the joke was real at that time or not, to test people's reactions and demand for such remake.

Yeah who wants play a significantly better looking version of a game they love like Crash right?
Certain aspects of the combat are just really bad design wise (if not broken), no one can argue otherwise. So it's strange seeing so many people defend it.
You got me there, but that combat still looks like hot garbage in 2018. I loved MediEvil on PS1. But I've played it recently and it could use some updates in the gameplay area. I just want to see this get the same about amount of love that SotC got.

I never played the original but the combat system/hit feedback looks absolutely terrible. It begs the question why you would remake a game with such poor mechanics in the first place unless you were going to modernize/improve them to meet todays standards.
Im stoked for this. Played a lot of MediEvil as a child, nothing I ever really begged for but for everyone that really wanted this, Im so happy for you! I got my Spyro, its a great feeling :)

Of course it'll sell. I'm buying it. Everyone in this thread is probably buying it. But how many complaints are there about Crash's gameplay being too faithful? I think they even changed Crash 1 to be a bit easier.
I hope so. I want Sir Dan back. A big new game would be great.

Medievil to me, was an early more light hearted dark souls/demon souls type of game. Possibly could become a series that is a little more inviting to new players of this type of genre.

I remember Puppeteer was great but it was at the end of a life cycle and didn't get much love

Eh I'll stick to the regular versions. This looks far too cartoony for me. Maybe it's just my memory but the original art style was a lot better than what they did here.
I think they're trying to recreate the look of the concept art, which was much more colorful and honestly did not have much resemble to the in-game PS1 graphics.
The game so nice they remade it twice. Shows you how in demand it is. Love that laugh at the menu screen.
Funny thing is that I looked up the soundtrack right after the trailer. Straight outta memory lane.
