Missing people in camp bug in RDR2

How can it not be a bug when throughout chapter 2 I've never seen Sadie, Jack, Abigail, or John (outside of missions, they disappear straight after) over 20 + hourse of play (with me constantly going back to check on the camp); however, after having deleted my saves and redownloaded the game all four of the aforementioned characters are now present in the camp 100 % of the time.

I just checked and all are present for me in chapter 2, except John. Though he has been around before and I believe he's supposed to be gone right now anyway for a mission.

Well I've been actively looking since I noticed the bug in chapter 2 and I return to camp after almost every mission to resupply/donate. I've seen every other gang member walking around at some point even when they didn't have missions. Sadie is the only one I've straight up NEVER seen.

Fact is, since it's 3 common characters that people are never seeing (Sadie and the Marstons) as opposed to Charles etc. or anyone else, it's either those 3 have a ridiculously low chance of appearing in camp for some reason, or it's a straight up bug.

Yeah, they are also gone from my camp as well. Some people are claiming speaking with them before the Uncle mission stops the issue from happening, but I spoke with all of them before that and I still got it, so I am pretty sure that is unrelated

EDIT: I have not seen John, Abigail or Jack in ages

I straight-up didn't even know who Sadie was until she showed up at the camp party.

The latter really. You won't miss much other than some side convos or the ability to greet them. Sadie, Abigail and Jack straight up disappeared for me in Ch.2. I searched *everywhere* around camp. They showed up again right at the start of Ch.4 and have been there ever since.

I think I'm unaffected. John, Jack and Abigail I see all the time. I've seen Sadie, but I don't see her often. Does she keep her distance from the gang early on at camp? I'm still in chapter 2.

I am so bummed about this damn it... I was wondering where the hell was Abigail and Jack. Marston I only saw once or twice. Sadie... I had literally forgotten who she was... i had to google her...

I am tired of harassing Uncle all the time...

I spot Sadie once in a blue moon. She doesn't seem very sociable and is always in a bad mood...understandable though.

So if I'm missing anything at all it's just dialogue then? I'm not missing out on anything that would say affect my 100% completion because that's something I plan on trying to do.

Realized I had this bug, but I had restarted previously. Saw a whole conversation with John and Hosea that I would have missed. Also a fight with Abigail and John.

Yep, looked all over the camp for Sadie and Jack and could not find them. I hear John arguing with his wife though.

Except they never come back. Man, it's a bug, you do something differently in an early mission and they aren't absent.

Why the hell would the kid be far from the camp all the time.

Why would John be donating to the camp while at the same time he's nowhere to be seen near camp. Sadie donates, too, but she's never seen. How so?

It's pretty clear it's a bug.

Now the thing is #teamrestart or #teamwaitforapatch or #teamignore... I think I may restart (from the very beginning, I don't have a chapter 2 save). I've played a lot though...

But this's affecting certain people after a certain mission making them disappear causing you to lose tons of optional dialogues. if this was a mechanic it'd be more general, no?

Yep, I had this. Luckily I'd only done a couple more missions after the Uncle one so hadn't got much further in the game. The first time i did the Uncle mission I also the did the bar room brawl mission in Valentine before returning to camp, which is when they disappeared. Saw the thread on Reddit, reloaded an old save and did the Uncle mission again. This time I didn't do the bar room brawl mission, just returned straight to camp and they were all there. I've played on for another 3 or 4 hours now, dome some more missions and they're still all there.

I don't think I've been affected by this... I haven't seen Sadie as much as I'd like considering her set up is the beginning of the whole game, but I have seen her a little.

However, I am missing the gunsmith in Valentine. He hasn't shown up for me in a couple hours and it's starting to get pretty annoying. The store is open but there's no one in there.

Has anyone who's experiencing this bug tried to just stand in front of Abbie & Jacks tent for a whole day? I'm intrigued if they just never appear or if they maybe appear and then glitch out in some manner.

I would try it but all camp mates seem present and correct in my game.

I have this bug too. Didn't see Sadie since rescuing her and only remembered about Jack and Abigail when I had to do the fishing mission. Really annoying but I'm not restarting the game and going through that sloooooow beginning for some camp dialogue. I'll just wait for them to come back in Chapter 4.

I've for sure done the uncle mission but far as I can tell Marston isn't around. I want to be able to go fishing but I guess I can't.

I think I've done everything i can outside of going to blackwater but I have a $300 bounty there from busting that dude out of jail. I'll go surrender myself and do that mission and see what happens.

Are we thinking it's guaranteed that they come back to camp in Chapter 4? I'm worried that if I keep playing from where I'm at, late Chapter 2 I think, that the bug will still be there later on.

i can't recall seeing sadie but john and jack are there for sure, jack was throwing stones at johns horse and he was pissed about it

I'm on Xbox x. Never seen John, his family or that girl you save in first mission (Ms Adler) , idk who Sadie is.
It happened after the uncle mission where you take the three girls to valentine, and that was the first mission I did in camp .This sucks.

I found a woman stuck under a horse and tried to give her a ride home but ended up running into a tree and knocking both of us off the horse. It canceled the mission but I noticed that there weren't any new missions available. I had to reload a recent save file.

Shit. I thought Abigail and Jack where gone for story reasons since I haven't seen them at all since chapter 2 started. Really hope this gets fixed quick.

Yeah now that you mentioned it i dont think i've seen Jack or Abigail in the camp, i'm in chapter 2 but have been spending a lot of time in the camp

I definitely have the bug affecting Sadie, John, Jack and Abigail. I have also never seen or talked to Lenny or Micah at camp. I don't know if that's a piece of story I missed. Are these two of the people missing after whatever happens in Blackwater?

So Sadie was actually supposed to be there during Chapter 2? I only met her for the first time at the start of Chapter 3. This really sucks, I've been spending a ton of time at the camp just trying to get everything out of it and now realize I've been missing out on entire characters.

Alright so I'm not too poor far in so il go ahead and restart or reload an earlier save, how can I prevent this bug from happening again? And it's confirmed that the trigger is the Uncle mission?

I really think it's a bug, regardless of rockstar denying, especially because it can be replicated and fixed. Sadie has been shown to be a main character in all the marketing yet I have literally seen her at camp once. I am already midway through chapter 3 but will likely restart. I want to see the character moments between John, Abigail, jack and Sadie. Its a major bummer and I hope kotaku or someone like that can shine some light on this so we can get a response from the dev team and not just rockstar support...

Hard to imagine that this was not caught during their reportedly insane QA crunch given how widespread it seems.

Idk seems I run into Sadie in camp more than nearly anyone else...but now that I'm thinking about it I don't see Jack much. Abigail and John are always around.

Hmm. I've spoken to Sadie, Abigail and Jonh at camp before doing the Uncle mission. I've never seen Jack.

I haven't seen Sadie and Abigail since but I see John every now and then.

Weird.

So I've reached Chapter 3 and I have the book item request for Jack...but I can't find him at all in the camp. iirc, the quest with Uncle in Chapter was one of the very first ones I did, and I was still able to do the fishing sidequest. Were there any sidequests with Sadie? I can't remember if I met her or not.

And it doesn't help that the mini map in this game is terrible. It doesn't even mark your camp mates so you just have to walk around repeatedly ugh "immersion"
