No one deconfirmed Geno. That's just overanalyzing Emily claims.
So I'm going to stop listening tho the leak character now since it's getting all confusing and speculate on the presentation itself like what colour shirt Sakurai will be wearing.
But with Emily discrediting Mystic, we're basically back at where we started prior to the banner rumor considering Geno.
Did you listen to Jonneh and Andre? It seemed, from how I looked at it, Geno is not in the base game.

I agree. He makes sense considering other newcomers, there are some rumors about a SE character and he got the Mii costume.

None of the insiders can agree on pretty much anything other than that the leak is fake. That sounds fishy to me.
Akuma has even less stuff in common with Ryu then Ken does, Ken is just easier to do then Akuma

I'm trying to get into the headspace that I should just be happy with the massive roster we already have, and that anything else is just a bonus, but it's hard.
All my personal dream picks are Isaac, DQ characters and Rhythm Heaven reps and realistically none of those are going to happen. What we've already got is amazing but it's hard not to feel a bit let down with the newcomers this time. For me personally, none of them are interesting apart from Simon.

Nidoking or Decidueye. Instead we will get the lame Incineroar.
He's not as boring as people says, he has his own moves and still play slighty different than Ryu (Ryu is like the hard hitting shoto with better hadokens while Ken is a little bit with his kick and is faster)
besides he is much more likeable as a character than Ryu.
Honestly at this point I don't know what characters to put in this game, except Isaac and a few others obscure characters, there aren't many interesting characters left to put in this game. I just want to be surprised (so give us Son Goku)

They even adress this insider thing right at the start of the video : "this ain't a spoiler video", so basicaly : "we don't know shit about the roster, our friends told us that grinch leak is fake, we believe them, that's it".
I disagree, unless some negotiations took more time than expected. Geno was acknowledged in 4 (via Mii Costume), and is one of the most requested characters (I can't understand why, but that's not the point here).
I think Smash Ultimate DLC will be more in line with Corrin: no old characters (obviously) and the third party characters won't be getting all the attention, even if I think that some will be released (they sell well). All of this relates to my other theory: this time Smash DLC will be a Season Pass like Zelda or Xc2, so even if some third partycharacter is released to make it more "commercial", I do expect ( and want) more Nintendo characters from new games.
I agree with you, specially after the Grinch lesk. Isaac is my most wanted newcomer followed by Banjo and Kazooei, and not having those in is very disappointing. I am still hyped, but not extremely excited about any newcomer.

You're left with Emily, Imran, Vergeben, Tom, Zhuge, and maybe gx's jonneh and eza's damiani. None of them have really contradicted each other since only vergeben and damiani have really gone on the record the former saying "incineroar no isaac" the latter saying "other then ken who it seems like everyone already knows nobody on the banner has been heard of by his sources". Tom as well with no banjo which lines up with what zhuge said ahout "not those pieces"
Anything else is Era trying to read between the lines of cryptic comments.
I've said before - if Nintendo is going to reach out and talk to Microsoft, why on earth would they ever ask for Banjo before asking for some Minecraft representation? I think Microsoft would be properly up for it, but the thing I've never believed about Banjo is that they'd ever go for him over a representative from the best-selling game of the last decade, and the #1 or #2 third party game on the last couple of Nintendo platforms. Minecraft is significant to today's kids in the same way the NES classics were to 80s kids. I also want to be clear: I've talked about my info from my sources in this thread before, and this about Minecraft isn't based on any of that. It's just my thinking process. (Though with that said, for what appears to be similar reasons to Emily I'm confident Banjo is a no-go). I still feel like Minecraft would be a really, really obvious DLC grab, tbh, though I don't expect it on the base roster any more.
I think we know two of who we're getting on Thursday now (honestly, if you look at the consensus among 'insiders' it's plainly Ken & Incineroar), and that there's at least one surprise besides. Speculation beyond that: the elephant in the room remains DLC, as Sakurai could always reveal the few remaining of the final on-cart cast for the release but also pull what Capcom did with Street Fighter 5 last year - say "and the first year of character DLC is..." with just portraits or whatever, saving gameplay for later. It'd not be a huge leap... in fact DLC is a huge question in general. Like, we need to learn about Spirits and the rest of the single-player offerings and remaining characters, yes, but the other big question mark right now is DLC - what sort of model are they following, will they charge and if so will there be a season pass, or will they follow a Splatoon-like model of free smaller updates then a bigger 'expansion'? Will there be DLC echoes, and if yes will they be cheaper, or even free...? All this is stuff that hasn't been clarified, and though they could save it for after launch I'd totally not be surprised to see it addressed tomorrow. It'd be very easy for Sakurai to announce three final characters for the cast tomorrow, but then have the likes of Shadow or Geno announced as the first DLC for 2019.

I would be very surprised if the music tomorrow is from Pokemon or Street Fighter but hey who knows
I think most people agree that if anyone in Gamexplain is proven to have "intel" it's Jon, and he was of the mind that he'd be DLC.
That said, I agree that taking all of their speculation as hints ain't a good idea. RogersBase is another example, watching his stream the other day it became clear to me that he's likely known of Incineroar for a better while, but he still speculates that Isaac is in the game, despite what we've been told by people.
I honestly don't feel the same unless you mean a ton of third party picks. Remember, said characters need to sell on their own merits, so it's hard for me to see Sakurai going too obscure with his DLC picks unless a Season Pass is our only option for DLC characters.
All Sakurai has to do is show an lineup of character portraits of DLC for 2019 if he wanted and that's hype. Not saying he's going to do that, but who knows.
I don't believe any insiders that claim they know the DLC content of the game, knowing Sakurai there is no way he would've planned the DLC this early on.
Beyond recent characters that missed the boat (like Rex/Pyra and Spring Man), I do think they will lean in on third party characters like they did with Smash 4's DLC. I'm not expecting someone like Mike from StarTropics.
DLC has probably been planned for a while, it just wouldn't have entered active development until the game's gone gold.
I absolutely am just using them as an example, yeah. Just a speculative example. (Though if you ask me my gut feeling on the status of Geno for base roster, my feeling is no - but unlike with Banjo and the like, Geno I'm not certain about.)
DLC can be planned. It doesn't mean they started. He can already know who else he wants in the game after it releases.
Eh, I think Sakurai has a DLC route for at least 2019. Not saying he has started full work on them... But no way he doesn't at least know who are gonna be the first ones. Especially third party, he needs to ask the companies asap.
