this is before even the fall of valyrians and Ageon's Conquest of westeros, right?

Is this timeline just right after the Andals invade Westeros and the First Men and Children of the forest got unite to fight them?

This is precisely the role I was thinking of, that would be insane, although "charismatic socialite" doesn't sound like the role admittedly.

Well from the books anyway the Night's King was certainly had a life before being "turned", so the same could be true of the Night's Queen, her "secret" could be whatever leads her down that path (her bloodline?).

do you really need an actual human to play the night's queen or any of the white walkers? I reckon it will be CG or heavy makeup since the white walkers ain't particular chatty or emotional from what've seen so far.

I think it's before that, IIRC the Andals only arrived after the Long Night, no?
what i remember is that the andals arrived before the long night but after the first men....in fact, i thought white walkers were created by the children specifically to counter the invasion since the weywood trees were burnt down by the andals....(the first men were able to co-exist with the children via a peace treaty).

the long night came only after the children lost control of the white walkers.

Might surprise you to know, but all the WWs and the NK on GoT are guys in make-up, with slight CG augmentations.

Socialite is an interesting word to use. Hopefully GoT is going to end with some sort of crazy reveal because more swords and magic doesn't seem that interesting given the way that the current show has run out of steam.

I've always liked Watts and, much like Sean Bean, she's big enough for people to know her name but not too big to overwhelm a tv show by her presence.

Do we even know if these prequels are going to be more than one season long?
Was just thinking that as well. With the Targaryen family one you could probably easily do more than 1 season, not sure with the long night. At most I could see 2 seasons.

And apparently Martin let it slip that the show will officially be titled "The Long Night."

GOT shouldn't be all white cast i'm getting sick of it. What wrong of saying it.
Yeah I'm kind of tired of it too. Most of the PoC from the books were either cut out or were written like trash in the show (Doran and the Sand Snakes). It would be really annoying if they approve all of these shows and none of them take place in Essos (Yi Ti?) or Dorne so we can get more non-white main characters.

So in terms of lore, who are the major characters appearing during the Age of Heroes? I really hope they bring the other nations (Dorm for example) to the forefront this time.

No one knows, that era hasn't really been described much IIRC. Maybe Bran the Builder, but that's about it.

Dorne's culture as we currently know it wasn't around yet, as the Rhoynar people hadn't yet fled from Essos.

It's also taking place well after the First Men's invasion of Westeros via the Arm of Dorne, so we won't get to see the Children of the Forest shatter that landbridge with their Hammer of the Waters spell.

Major characters include the legendary figures Azor Ahai and Symeon Star-Eyes, as well as some of the progenitors of the Great Houses, such as Garth Greenhand (the Gardeners of the Reach), Bran the Builder (the Starks), Lann the Clever (Lannisters), Durran 'Godsgrief' Durrandon (Stormlands), etc.

What prudes. Sex is a huge part of most adults lives and it should be represented on screen, just like any other important part of life. Why are you so scared of seeing someone naked?

It's not nudity existing, but the manner in which Game of Thrones' showrunners immaturely employ it that's embarrassing.

It's tone deaf and problematic on multiple levels, hand-in-hand with their saturation of the series in rape and sexual violence, far beyond even the source material, which itself is critiqued as having exaggerated levels relative to the time period it ostensibly borrows from. The women being abused as set-pieces in the background of various scenes often have their faces (and thus recognizability / humanity) off-camera.

Lol, i'm not. Just saying it's never any good. It's the sex that is prude, not me. It often serves little purpose. It's often rather silly imo. It's a bit of a titty show.

Why do they have to be mature about nudity? It's just dicks and boobs. lol

One of the most "immature" nudity moments in the show is when they have an extreme closeup of someone checking their dick for warts and it's funny as hell. It's such an American point of view to treat nudity with this amount of respect that you think they have to be 'mature' about it.

Have HBO said how many series based on GoT they're planning to greenlight ?
Its changed a few times now but I believe the recent count was 6 shows that HBO is working on to see which will actually be greenlit. We now one has already been greenlit for a pilot but HBO doesn't actually know, or they've at least not said publicly, how many they'd like to do.

Yeah, because that's what I meant, judging from the rest of my post. Nudity is fine. Frequent nudity is fine. Nudity for mundanity, nudity for drama, nudity for comedy — all fine.

The manner and context in which Game of Thrones' showrunners employ nudity is often not fine.

They said they'd put as many are good enough on the air, but they don't imagine more than two is likely at all, given how development of shows has worked there historically.

So it'll be this and The Doom. Which seems like very poor choices. The Long Night is absurdly similar to GoT, and The Doom with a budget and production schedule that isn't massively inflated it going to be lacklustre.

As for nudity, GoT's isn't a masterfully written or acted show. It's a big budget, high production low brow violence and sex vessel. That's not going to change. And the poster banned for saying he hopes she gets naked, while yeah, not the best look, is hardly wrong. This isn't going to be too distant in tone from GoT I'd imagine. Plenty of nudity, sexual violence, murder... It's going to be the same show.

Sounds like your problem is more with the rape scenes and less with the nudity.
