And even then it's only slower than Melee for people who use L-cancelling. For 98% of the Smash playerbase Ultimate will be even faster than Melee.This. Brawl was the only one that could be considered slow.
Ulimate is definitely not slow. It's only slightly slower than Melee.
smash is not a fighting game.
Lol seems like the most replies seem to be
1. I don't like fighting games, I can't understand them
2. I don't have friends to play with/ don't care about online play
3. I live in Europe, what's smash?
I mean it's super, super simple to get into the controls, that's why they're designed the way they are. No complicated combos, simply button + directional input. It's why you can have super complex combos and use of the abilities, but alternatively your baby cousin can play as Pikachu, spam Thunder (Down+B) and still have a decent chance of winning. When I got Smash 4 for the first time I too got confused by the controls. They were veeeery complicated, the opposite of what I was expecting for a "party" game. Street fighter, tekken, soul calibur... none could match the "directional + button" amount of things to do.
But after 30-40 hours (trophies kept me going) it's just became the best fighting game system to me. Playing it good, smashing precisely, shielding and fighting in the air, it's just too exciting. Also it can be total chaos or no gimmicks at all, but also a billion levels between those (probably a trillion in ultimate).
It's hard to un-hadouken your brain, but so worthy!
I will get it but Smash 4 was a huge dissapointment, so i'm not as excited for Ultimate as i normally would be.
+1 to everything you said.Ive played almost every fighter that has come out in the past 5 years.
I have plenty of people who I could play online with, people who leave and breathe smash.
I live in Europe.
I just dont care for smash. As far as im concerned, its as much a platformer as a fighting game. I dont enjoy the mechanics nor the stages. That goes for its clones as well. I like fighting on 2d planes, even with 8 way movement.
That's funny. I don't like Smash precisely because it's NOT like other fighting games, a genre I generally enjoy despite not being particularly good or invested.I dislike fighting games in general, Smash is just like the rest of them. Never got the appeal.
