I'm enjoying Odyssey but I wish they'd lean more into actual RPG elements. Like, meaningful choices and all that. There's a definite conflict between the completionist structure of AC and the exact opposite structure of RPGs. AC:O has a faction system but it's completely superfluous. There's no reputation system so you can kill 1000 Athenians and still do Athenian quests. The only difference between Spartans controlling an area vs Athenians controlling an area is the color scheme of the banners and paint. Same goes for the bounty system which you can completely negate by simply paying off your bounty in a menu. As for the narrative choices, those also seem superficial. Early in the game you can choose to save some sick villagers and if you do, the rest of the island gets sick but nothing really changes from a gameplay standpoint. No relevant NPCs (not even merchants) are killed, no quests are closed off, nothing happens except for aesthetic changes to the towns.

If Ubisoft really wants to go full RPG, they need to suck it up and say "no, you can't do everything in one playthrough." There need to be meaningful choices with long-term repercussions that actually affect gameplay.

Not surprised. It's the best game they produced this generation. It is a good game.
Mostly because there is a story in there.

Very happy to hear that Odyssey is doing better than Origins. Origins was excellent but Odyssey for the most part is simply better. I'm currently playing it and im 170 hours in. Level 50. On the second half of chapter 7. Four regions left to clear out. 15 side quests left to do in the game. There are a few things that I don't like (mainly the Bounty/Mercenary system and all the randomly generated side quests which I haven't done a single one) but overall, Odyssey is an easy 9/10 for me and if the story plays out in a great way, could even end up being a 9.5/10 for me. Absolutely loving the game.

Actually as far as I remember they didn't say that it is doing better than Origins. They just said that digital percentage was up and that is above expectations.

Great game. Not sure if i will put it over Origins once i'm done, but it certainly is a worthy addition to my collection.

It s deserved.
There is so much hate since Unity... So sad..
So glad it s going good because Odyssey is awesome, despite that false news about MTX

Doubt it. People are convinced that red dead digital sales in the UK are onl about 15% of the total. I literally don't know anyone who buys a physical game anymore.

A) Nobody said that.

B) Using a thread where Ubisoft reports global digital sales INCLUDING an all digital platform is not bolstering any argument that a 50% reduction in physical console sales in one country is being made up by digital uptake. It in fact shows the opposite is true.

But its pretty clear people dont want to apply amy critical thinking here.

EA said in their earnings call that for the last 12 months their digital share of full game sales on PS/XB is 42% versus 36% a year ago. Again, games in the new release window are likely higher than that.

Good on them! I'm still really enjoying my time with it. Kassandra is a top tier protoganist.
