Missing people in camp bug in RDR2

Just realized that I'm affected by this bug. The Marstons and Sadie no longer show up in camp and it appears the Uncle mission is the trigger. I've been taking my sweet time and still in chapter 2 so I'm going to avoid advancing the story and just roam around until they hopefully patch it. Would hate to start a new game after sinking so many hours in.

That is so weird. Are you on Xbox or PS4?

On PS4 and I never had that bug for the entirety of the main story.

PS4. Wish I had been aware of it sooner and done the Uncle mission right but it seems relatively easy to patch

How do you do the mission right?

This is what one redditor said in my link:
I "fixed" it so posting in case someone comes across this thread as i did.

Uncle mission is the culprit, so if you have a save before reload it, and redo the mission. First time i did it Sadie, Abigail and Jack dissapeared when i got back to camp, but this second time they are still there (note that this 2nd try i started the mission at evening time, but don´t know if that has any effect or is just a just coincidence).

Both reloads where starting from the same saved game, so you don´t need to restart the game if you have a save before uncle´s mission.

So glitch is confirmed, hope R* roll a patch soon, because i´m going to have to replay a lot of the game.

I had this issue but eventually I was able to give everyone their items by the end of chapter 4.

I didn't realize this was a bug but now that I think about it, I'm def affected by it.

Haven't seen Jack, Abigail, John or Sadie in a long time.

John appeared briefly when he had a main story mission and Abigail and Jack showed up for the fishing mission but haven't seen them since.

I'm a good 15 hours past that Uncle mission so there's no going back.

It's the same for me. Abigail and Jack showed up only for their mission in Chapter 2 and no Sadie at all. I actually thought this was story-related

Yup. I've been complaining in the OT if I was alone. I'm kind of pissed. It was so weird to have these two characters never exist outside of their quests. Especially Sadie, who I don't remember at all in chapter 1 and 2

Wow this sucks. I just completed Chapter 2 and John only popped up for story missions and I haven't seen Sadie even once since the beginning. I thought it was just a story related thing since I started seeing others around camp that I hadn't seen before as the story progressed. Is this a permanent bug as in they aren't going to show up anymore outside of story missions in the camps going forward?

Are there other NPCs going missing too? I've gone into that damn gunsmith in Valentine like a dozen times at all hours and nobody is ever working in there to buy from. I need some fucking gun oil!

Seems that way even much later in the game. No more sidequests for them

Which Uncle mission is this? The one where you and Uncle bring the girls with you to Valentine? That's like the very first mission most people would do after you get your camp, right?

Goddamnit! Sadie was the character I was most looking forward to seeing in this game. Even though i've probably got a dozen or so hours in the game i'm going to have to seriously think about just restarting it so that I can make sure everyone is in.

Hmm, I'll just stop playing until patch rolls out then. I'm still in chapter two, but I wonder if I missed anything still. I'll finish up my playthrough of AC Origins that I put off for this. I won't be near my PS4 this weekend either, so hopefully a quick patch goes live during it.

John has started to appear for me as a regular come chapter 3. It's Abigail and Jack that never appear, with them having only appeared during that one mission for them in chapter 2. Sadie has appeared in chapter 3 for a mission but I'm not sure if she is still around.

I'm not going to fret too much about it. I'll miss out on some interactions in the camp, which does suck, but I'll just see them when I do a second playthrough, or whenever they fix it before then.

They reappeared in Ch.4 though.

The only times I could find Sadie was when she was sleeping, where all I could do was wake her up and annoy her.

Just loaded up the game to check. Sadie, Abigail, Jack, and John are all present in my camp, and I finished the Uncle mission people are blaming many hours ago.

I guess I got lucky and dodged the bullet.

Hopefully Rockstar patches this soon.

Man I'm considering a restart and I already put in 40 hours on Chapter 2 still though. Given how integral the camp system and members interaction this seriously, seriously sucks. I wish R* would tweet something and acknowledge that they will fix this on a upcoming patch so we'll know if we need to restart.

Having the same issue. I saw an Abigail mission pop up (currently in chapter 3) but was in the middle of another mission. By the time I got back to camp it was gone. I'm about set Jack's book on fire if that little shit isn't going to come get it.

Yep I read that you have to 'lock in' the 3 character before doing the mission. Basically talk to all 3, sleep, then make sure to talk to all 3 at night, go out of camp then talk to all 3 just for good measure then you do the uncle mission. Save first of course.

I didn't have the bug, that being said - I wouldn't replay 20 hours of game to have them in camp. It's cool but the game is out in the world. There's not many lines of dialogue that you're missing.

That's kind of the point though, since it's such a magnificent game, something small but meaningful like this would absolutely spoil my whole feels for it.

That's just how I am with monumental, landmark games...I can't have them ruined in any which way, shape or form.

I started seeing him after a few missions into Chapter 2. Now he's always around either just walking around through camp or standing guard at one of the entrances.

Damn, I was thinking Sadie got dropped off somewhere off-camera since I haven't seen her once I'm camp. I was starting to think John and Abigaile were off somewhere too for a quest I could start with them. Hope it gets patched soon.

Oh so it is a bug, I was wondering why the whole Marston family was missing and totally forgot about Sadie, but I just thought that it must be part of the game. Well, no way I'm going to start a fresh game at this point, I will just finish my playthrough and replay the game in the future.

I don't think you can miss that mission, it's part of the main story.

Lenny and Micah are both probably away from the camp at the moment which leads you to the drinking with Lenny mission.
