Come on guys, you gotta remember EVERYTHING THEY DO IS IN BAD FAITH. "Constitutional originalism" is like "states rights" or "smaller government" or "activist judges" and are just lame excuses they come up with whenever they want to oppress minorities, restrict civil rights or do anything that helps them further concentrate power among themselves.

No man, those babies could be a serious threat for the country, this is a security concern, like the Muslim ban, that only applies to certain countries because of reasons.

"Now they're saying"

Who is this "they"? Does anybody ever actually ask him this and challenge him? Because it sure doesn't seem like it.
I was thinking the same thing when I was watching him say that in that interview clip.

I don't think there would be that many (if even a single one) elected officials who would be willing to publicly back the EO. Any elected official who backed this should be impeached/recalled immediately. Like I said before, it is ludicrously unconstitutional.

Yeah....the anti-christ will actually be a person so charismatic and manipulative. They would literally deceive EVERYBODY (except the peeps who could tell Christ from the anti-christ). Obviously Trump hasn't reached that level. Such a huge divide with this man.
And par for course he'll do a huge heel turn and turn out to actually be that fucker.

So please explain something to me here, the american population today is mostly descendants of immigrants who were mostly european in the past (white), though obviously there were also african slaves and later on asian people, the actual amerindian population who lived in the land before it all is a minority now, so what I get from this the country that was built on immigration won't allow immigrants any more, is it because immigrants nowadays tend not to be white anymore? So he doesn't want latino, blacks, arabic and asians immigrating to the country because he's racist? Seems like immigration is fine as long immigrants are white. I think Trump is actually a major racist. This is among the things I've read online: the USA is only the country it is today because it is built by white people with white values and the country would go from bad to worse if non-whites were allowed into the country (some people are saying this is already happening), some times I see people saying this is all the jews fault too (some kind of conspiracy). To me it all sounds extremely racist and the fearmongering just seems ridiculous, this whole make America great again sounds like that idea to me just more subtle. I think Trump might believe all that himself and it's reflected is in his politics, anyone agree?

It was during the whole "shithole countries" debacle that Trump said he wanted to see more immigrants from countries like Norway.

If something like this were to happen, what would happen to the people who're born here then? It's not like you can automatically become a citizen of your parent's country, especially if it's retroactive.

I mean, he literally can't. While the federal government determines who gets citizenship, birthright citizenship is really determined by the states who issue birth certificates. Because of the 14th amendment, a U.S. certificate of live birth counts as your citizenship. Each state would have to implement this by changing the rules on who will receive birth certificates, or creating two tiers of certificates. Such a thing would take years to implement and buy in from all over the place, and that's if the state *wants* to do it.

DO NOT LOOK BEHIND THE CURTAIN, DOROTHY!!! I AM THE WIZARD OF OZ!!!

I'd put more faith in him being able to put together a sentence on an 11th grade reading level.

Some like Stahl have done similar. He melts like the sack of butter under a heat lamp that his BMI points to him being.

Had a very, VERY disappointing convo with my mom about this today. She and my grandma were born in Mexico, they always make a point to say they came here legally. She went on about " Why should I work hard and see money taken out of my paycheck to support.." etc.
I listened and walked away. I can't have conversations with people that see others as numbers and statistics. This is why I don't talk politics with her ( we live in So. California, she didn't vote for either candidate in 2016)

It's only big if he actually goes through with it and it gets challenged in court. Otherwise it's just extremely blatant pandering to Trump's base to try and get them riled up to vote next week. Same with the impossible middle-class tax cut he slipped in a couple of days ago. This is nothing new with Trump, he threw decorum and norms of the President out the window well before he was actually sworn in. This is just the next step in our collective descent into madness.

Tell her that "illegals" have to pay taxes too. They're given an ITIN. The IRS fucks everyone not just citizens.

Point out that illegal immigrants not only pay taxes (as pointed out above, the IRS doesn't give a fuck if you're legal or not), but since they're illegal they can't access any of the programs that tax money pays for, so illegal workers subsidize legal workers, not the other way around lol

EOs have no legal binding though, they can be overruled within the administration branch. Trump did it to Obama's EOs, nothing could stop the next Dem president returning the favor and void every EO he signed.

I asked if the Chinese Exclusion Act was ethnic cleansing and you said "no."

https://www.resetera.com/posts/14382746/

You already said that ethnic cleansing doesn't require genocide in another post, so why the fuck does the Chinese Exclusion Act not qualify when it's entire purpose was to remove Chinese people by essentially sterilizing the men by creating laws that prevent them from marrying and having children by proxy, therefore making further steps towards a white ethno-state.

It's obvious that you don't know a damned thing about the Chinese Exclusion Act, so why are you acting like you should be taken as any kind of authority on it. But please, keep going on about how I don't know how to read while I'm quoting and using the language from your own posts.
Dude, I'm a fucking history teacher, so kindly fuck off with your assertions. You're conflating a lot of issues into one out of pure ignorance, it seems. The Chinese Exclusion Act was NOT ethnic cleansing. It was, though, a racist maneuver by the United States to limit the expansion of the Chinese (and later other Asian) people who were arriving in the country. There is nothing within the Exclusion Act with regards to what you're babbling on about, though there were other state laws around this era that sought to further restrict the Chinese. As far as ethnic cleansing, there were definitely individuals who were emboldened by the Exclusion Act that attempted to roust the Chinese immigrants from their new homes.

Regardless, I stand by what I said: The Chinese Exclusion Act was a racist piece of legislation, but it was not ethnic cleansing. That said, I'm done with you and this conversation. Have a good day.

There's no way he's that fucking stupid.

Right?

Trump is a dumbass, but this is an obvious political move designed to take advantage of how braindead stupid and racist his supporters are. Cletus "Keep the Mexicans Out" Fuckface isn't going to know jack shit about the constitution and isn't going to read up on Constitutional law or inform himself in any way. All he sees is Trump doing something to harm foreigners followed by near-unanimous praise from Fox shills, and that's all he needs to be convinced that this is something Trump can actually do.

Yeah this is a flop. No one supports this, aside from the crazies. Unfortunately for us, our supreme court has a few of them on it now.

Even if somehow in the wildest fever dreams of the alt-right think tanks this passes muster in the courts, there's no way in hell this would be applied retroactively to current citizens. This would be a new rule going forward, to discourage people from coming here to have children, and seemingly to discourage illegal immigration from Mexico.

But those are Mount Everest sized "IFs", and it will almost assuredly never get that far. If Republicans actually thought this would work, Lindsey Graham would not also be talking about introducing legislation to enact the same change. Again, riling the base before an election to try to stop them losing the House. Drumpf is playing ALL the hits.

I get this is an attempt to rally the base. But who actually wants this? I have never heard this being brought up as an issue before. It's not anywhere up there on the list of issues republicans care about.
