The Ridley shadow was way earlier in the cycle and then the stage reveal was months after the game was out and he wasn't in.

Issac getting in just to reprise his AT role would be the biggest goddamn bummer.
Or Zero and Rathalos, for that matter. Hell, Rathalos already kinda breaks a few established "rules".
Emily may well be wrong (we're all human), but if she's not it makes no sense that, in her words, the banner that thus far has focused on presenting every playable character in the roster (it's literally the entire shtick of the banner) would exclude multiple playable characters in addition to confusing an assist trophy for a playable character.
Sure, we can formulate theories on why a Nintendo designed, artistically coherent marketing piece would for some obtuse reason not include multiple playable characters and instead others. But if we apply Occam's Razor the most simple, logical reasoning here is that the Grinch leak is entirely fake. It's a clever, well presented fan made fake. Doesn't matter if some stuff aligns with reality, because the stuff most likely to was already hotly rumoured (eg: Ken). The more excuses we need to make for the art banner excluding characters yet including others, despite this being tonally and creatively inconsistent with every update leading up to this moment, the less believable it becomes. Because really, it only takes one thing. Just one; a person with technical and artistic skill (of which there exist many), and a penchant for jokes. That's it. One person out there willing to commit the time and energy to whip up this blurry fake and here we are. It's the simplest reasoning for why it exists, if we are to assume Emily's info is solid (as has been in regards to Directs and Smash in the past), instead of a thousand excuses we need to intertwine just to make both the Grinch leak and Emily equally coherent.
Reality is they're probably mutually exclusive. Grinch leak is fake. There's no Banjo, Isaac, Mach Rider, Chorus Kids, Geno, or Shadow. There might be Ken as that's an old rumour. And Incinerour is probably in too.
No. I don't see DLC being any different from how Smash 4 handled it aside from maybe replacing Mii costumes with Echoes.
The character was wanted since a lot of time and one of te only potential highly requested new Metroid rep.
Geno only ever has been a Mii costume.
From the sounds of it, it seems like only 2 characters are different from what the insiders have heard.

Chorus Kids were considered for playable before so if anything they're more likely to come in based on this roster and Banjo like come on it's Banjo. Maybe they passed him over for Steve in base but he's not an Assist Trophy. I know people like to think Sakurai likes to troll or disrespect characters with Assist Trophies but outside of Waluigi, who is a special case and even then might actually be considered next time, they don't really choose Assist Trophies to spite characters and they won't add in highly demanded characters as ATs.

If nothing else after all this time Box Theory/Kencineroar isn't real and we'll get at least one other character and maybe some more from the banner. This is like a totally fine outcome even if all 7 would be more preferable but better than what we were talking before.
To be fair, that one is about to get blown open either way by the end of the week.
Considering the special edition switch for Smash releases this week or so, are there any unboxing videos of it yet? I would like to see a good view of it out in the open before I buy.
I beat classic mode on easy with her. Does that make her top tier?
