Emily is explicitly say the Grinch banner isn't real, namely because based on her info it's missing multiple characters.

People are grasping at straws. If the Grinch banner is partially real, why does it exist? Who made it, for what purpose, and why does it have several entirely new characters but is missing others? It can't be met halfway. If there's characters in the Grinch banner that are in the game, but some that aren't, the banner is thus more likely a lucky guess for those characters and not in any way an accurate representation of a leak.

And it just makes no sense at all that a banner has been cooked up for marketing purposes that contains Banjo, Mach Rider, Isaac, Chorus Kids, Ken, Geno, and Shadow...all several huge and requested and anticipated characters fully on display within a banner that for all intents and purposes has so far conveyed all known characters in the roster...yet for some reason is missing more characters.

If you're trying to meet it halfway, that the Grinch banner is real and Emily's sources are real, ask yourself why the banner exists and is missing multiple characters.

SpawnWave said it last week that Incinceroar and another character are missing. Vergeben talked about Ken, Incinceroar and Square rep. Imran hinted at another Square rep.

I think from this banner Ken and Shadow are in. Shadow will be like Isabelle. Mach Rider is probably the AT. Banjo is probably DLC along with Isaac being DLC. Incinceroar would be base game.

The sticking point is the Square rep. You could say it's Geno or Sora or DQ guy.

As far as I know, that 'Grinch' banner is missing multiple characters. At least two characters. Which is why I don't believe that banner at all.

Also, Liam said that he saw an internal document that we are getting Ken, Incineroar and MAYBE a Square Enix character. There might be two left, or three left.

If there's two left (which is really likely), then Box Theory is true.

But to think, potentially even more characters than the banner is letting on?

That direct is going to be a mega fun ride one way or the other.

Am I correct in saying that signs are pointing to later this week is when we find out the truth?

If there's one question Emily could answer that'd get the hype train just completely off the rails, it'd be if there's a character on the banner besides Ken and Shadow who is in the game.

Incineroar's trailer is gonna be him beating the shit out of Pika Libre in the trailer, almost becoming the requisite "someone has to die in a trailer" sacrifice, until Ken shows up and saves her.

Oh but the one who's gonna die in the trailer is Little Mac - Pika Libre decks him in the opening moments. It'll all be set in the boxing ring.

The only thing I can take out of this if both are real is that the banner is actually not final.

I thought Emily was often wrong? Throw that alongside the rumors that people were given red herring characters to avoid leaks and it means that the Grinch leak is still going strong.

Tbh, I'm not really invested tho. None of the characters floating around do anything for me. I just want Classic Ganon, Sora or Golisopod. Anyone else will probably just have me going "huh. neat."

At this point the best-case scenario is for Sakurai to pull another Richter out of his hat and deliver someone absent from all the major theories and fakes and leaks.

(This is because the best-case scenario involves Wonder-Red.)

It would be no less remarkable for the Grinch wristband, if indeed fake, to survive all the way to an official disconfirmation without ever falling to a persuasive refutation on the publicly available evidence alone. That's something that should command your admiration even if you desperately want Mach Rider and the final game lets you down.

If Emily believes it's missing two characters and we're still operating under the assumption that the only characters left are Incineroar, Ken, and a Square Enix rep, that suggests Geno is not our final character
