Anyway two Direct makes sense if the leak is real. Two characters in a general One, and the final five later.
That's what throws me off. The only two characters revealed outside a Smash information blowout are Isabelle and Inkling. Both these reveals were used to announce games (Smash Bros Switch and Animal Crossing Switch).
Smash 4 had Rosalina, Little Mac, and Shulk revealed in non-Smash specific Directs. Palutena and Mii Fighters too, though that was E3, so those are special events.
I meant for this particular game. Smash 4 was a fairly constant stream of info. Ultimate's revealed most of its information in bursts.
There's no rule that says they can't go back to doing what they did before. And I forgot Cloud in 2015, which was so hyped and massively talked about it was a hit for Nintendo.
Alternatively: Chorus Kids to lead into Rhythm Heaven Switch.
Man Shulk's reveal was a big one because it absolutely confirmed the ESRB leak.
The next character reveal will have the same effect if this banner turns out to be real.
There's no hard rule. I just wouldn't be shocked if whatever gets revealed outside of the Smash direct is used to cross-promote something. Banjo for the N64 Classic, Chorus Kids for Rhythym Heaven, Incineroar for a Pokemon game that he's not in for some dumbass reason, etc.
Shulk's reveal also had Xenoblade 3D, but the way it was edited it didn't look like it was leading into an announcement. It was incredibly weird.
Nah, I don't think they'll spread out Smash Bros info across two directs.
If I had to predict, I expect all remaining Smash Bros info to be revealed this week, and it will be the final roster.
As far as I know, that 'Grinch' banner is missing multiple characters. At least two characters. Which is why I don't believe that banner at all.

Yeah, they need to release all Smash info asap, people are crazy about this game when it comes to leaks and release is only a month away, guides will be printed soon and I guess they want to promote the game with the final roster.

Could the 2nd character be Vergeben's Square Enix rep? Doesn't sound very good for Geno if that's the case...
It's probably the latter. I doubt that we still haven't seen half of the newcomer roster with less than 40 days until release.
Let's humour what Emily is saying, and that the Grinch banner is missing two characters that are legitimately in Smash Ultimate.

1) The banner, for some reason, has several entirely new and surprising characters seemingly with intent to "complete" the roster, yet for some reason neglects two additions that, if the Grinch banner is legit, would not appear in marketing material.
