It's possible I guess, but not really something Nintendo does aside from NG3:RE, and we didn't even know the PS360 versions were a thing until after that came out.

They've spent this entire generation releasing DQ title after DQ title on the PS4 in the west and now they're just suddenly going to drop support?

Not what I meant.

Builders 1 was different since it came out long after the other versions. This (assuming) would be simultaneous with the PS4 version by SE themselves.

The PS4 part in the OP is totally unnecessary. SE publishes their own games for it.

Thread should be about DQB2 on Switch, not anything else.

I think folks are missing the point I was making about that. If anyone has prior examples of Nintendo teaming up with 3rd-parties to publish their version alongside other versions on other platforms, I'm interested in knowing other examples.

Like I said, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is like the only other one I can think of, and back then it was a bizarre thing. Hell Nintendo weren't even the publisher of it on Wii U originally I think, I'm pretty certain KT were doing it themselves back in E3 2011 when it was revealed. Nintendo were revealed to have taken over publishing in the west in the E3 2012 clip in the montage video. I remember that vividly. :P

I need this game. The first was a huge surprise hit for me. Really glad it's been announced for the west

Nintendo isn't publishing the Switch version of the Final Fantasy games though, as far as we know.

I wonder if this one will come to PC this time, Strange that DQB is the only PS4 DQ game not to get a PC port. But i'll get it on Switch if it isn't.

Probably slated for fall release. Man, I don't want to wait that long. Simultaneous Worldwide releases need to be a thing for DQ

They do in the west. They did the packaged release of Lost Sphear and are doing FFX/X-2 HD and FFXII The Zodiac Age. They also distribute Milestone's packaged releases in America and Europe.

Neato. I didn't bother with the Switch version of the first since I'd gotten it on sale on Vita by that point but I'll definitely be in for this one on it.

What was the font size like in the Switch version of the original? When I played the PS4 demo of it I found the text way too small but on Vita it was fine.

That's all i wanted to hear. Awesome!

There is a small chance this could be even exclusive on the west but we'll see.

I don't understand what the OP is getting at with the comment about the PS4 version. Are you trying to imply it's switch exclusive?

Yes, because SE are capable of publishing Switch games on their own (FF X/X2 and XII), and it'd be strange for Nintendo to publish the Switch version, while SE would publish the PS4 version at the same time. I personally feel it's more likely than not that Nintendo got it as an exclusive in the west, but that's just me.

Should have just outright said that in the OP then instead of the hmm... shit.

Nice to have confirmation, even though 2019 was pretty much assured. I just hope it's not too late in 2019. I need this fucking game pronto.

Is there some clause in the contract between Nintendo and Square Enix saying that only Nintendo is allowed to localize, publish, and market Square's titles on Nintendo platforms? I've been noticing that whenever it comes to marketing, Square can't be arsed to do any heavy lifting.

SE has never announced that this game is coming to the West.

It's totally SE which is reluctant to spend money on localization, and probably publishing under the Nintendo brand is more convenient for them (maybe they save money on retail costs this way)

Nah, I think SE published the first DQ Builders on Switch. They also published DQ IV and V on DS before Nintendo took over for VI.

Not in the west though. If they did, can you link to it please?

Nope. Nintendo published Builders 1 in the west. If you look at the spine of the case, you'll see Nintendo's logo IIRC, which they only put on Nintendo-published games.

Also their site confirms it as well:

There's zero chance that Builders 2 is skipping PS4 outside of Japan. It's just not happening.
