Agreed.
Why?
The thing is still selling well without a cut. Apple doesn't slash the prices of iPhones at all until the new phone is actually out. They might very well not actually do a PS4 cut until the PS5 is actually out and they're winding down.
They really don't. It's still selling. People are thinking of this in old generation terms.
Has it? Well damn.
Yeah. It's incredible that the PS4 just keeps on selling well without major price-cut.
Crazy.
very impressive
Depends on when TLOU 2 releases.PS4 will pass 100 million units next year
Only question is how early in the year they can hit it
Usually this slide has a couple of negatives like lower hardware revenue due to price cut or currency exchange loss or something but this time it is all pluses!!! Playstation firing on all cylinders
price of a product is determined by supply and demand....if supply outstripped demand, price will drop. As the price are still not dropped officially, it's safe to say that there's still healthy demand vis a vis supply...Still how is the console still $299? Probably see $250 minimum for deals. They best have some good PSVR deal's or else.

PS4 will pass both shortly after it passes the other. The difference in PS1 and Wii LTD is around 1 million units. Late Fy19 Q2 is my guess.PS4 should pass Wii's LTD next year. PS1 should be early 2020 or late 2019.

Sony will have three home consoles selling over 100 million units, absolutely insane.
Not when TLOU 2 comes out in 2020. ;)

Not only three home consoles selling 100 million units but the top 3 selling home consoles of all time, period. PS2, PS4, and PS1, in that order. Insanity.
It would be the wrong move though. Like, they went to $199 last year and sold out extremely early.Imagine if Sony was even half as price competitive as MS is with Xbox. Literally $50-$100 price drops and multipl free game bundles with everything they can get their hands on and promotional giveaways every month. Got Damit Sony.

I think there is still a possibility of PS5 launching in 2019. While cutting the PS4 short is costly, giving a competitor 1 year head start to themselves at the start of next gen is even more costly.
It's really important to emphasize again how ridiculously important the video games segment has become to Sony Corporation.
Sony should seriously consider a late start to the ps5. Current gen is way to good for them right now and the pro is acceptably powerful.
Hey man please, don't kill there vibe. Let them dream. Team 2019 ain't hurting nobody.I'm not sure how anyone can look at Sonys business and think a successor is launching next year

I think I remember reading this somewhere, Sony didn't want a year where PS4 is on it's way out while PS5 is still starting out resulting in lower hardware sales year. they want a more smoother transition where PS4 hardware is still selling well when they sell PS5. or something like thatSony keeps rolling with the PS4 and PSN. Great numbers
That PS5 rumor for next year seems like a waste of potential money for Sony..
Yeah that's probably a first in videogame history. They are insane if they don't do 200 dollar promotion this year. How the heck do you make worse deals then last year?
They seek to keep the momemtum from the PS4 looking at recent job openings. So it doesnt matter if they sell PS4's or PS5's in the millions as long as they have the momemtum.
In which direction? :)Benji & MatPiscatella have already stated that 1:5 ratio hasn't been the case for some time.
kind of curious why they are still making phones. are they actually popular outside the US? don't think i know a single person that owns an xperia phone here in the states
