I liked Blood Drive but there were so strange moments like a
monster with giant lips and teeth, what the hell was that?

I would have continued playing, but the load times on vita are excruciating.

The start of Blood Drive is very promising, but then a character appears that completely disrupts any credibility the series was building up to. No amount of Ayumi or EX chapters can salvage that.

PC version of Blood Drive will at least be the best version of a bad game.

They're really localizing 2U (now apparently renamed to Hysteric Birthday Bash)? That is genuinely shocking, in a pleasant way.

A lot of characters that show up in Blood Drive actually got introduced in 2U and there are some canonical events, so there's a reason to play that game despite it being a super weird comedy spin-off. I watched a translated playthrough of the game on YouTube years ago, before Blood Drive got released.

Think of it as a Carnival Phantasm for the Corpse Party series, as strange and unfitting as that sounds.

Book of Shadows was a chore to play on the psp due to the long transitions and load times so this is very nice.
I paid special attention to reducing load times in Book of Shadows and Hysteric Birthday on PC.
There is a somewhat longer load time when initially starting one of the games.
This preloads most of the system graphics, etc. into memory permanently.
I also reduced load times globally by improving how the game loads stuff.
Sometimes I could only squeeze an extra frame or two worth of time.
I thought any reduction was worth it though, so it's pretty good.
The load times are definitely much better on PC.

Man it's all coming back now Blood Drive was so bad lmao

At least the music is top tier as usual

I wouldn't say Blood Drive is bad in a vacuum, but it was terrible as a follow-up to Book of Shadows. I mean, it did its job in concluding the story, but that's about as much as it has going for it.

It puts Book of Shadows in a weird spot. It's absolutely a game worth playing through but it also necessitates you to play Blood Drive afterwards, since if you just leave the series off there it'll feel incomplete. This isn't the case if you just play the first Corpse Party, where the ending of that game is perfectly satisfying and won't leave you with that incomplete feeling.

My recommendation to anyone who hasn't played the series is to definitely play the first game, then judge whether or not you really want more story set in that universe before deciding on playing Book of Shadows.

I agree completely, though I also think it drops the ball as a sequel to Corpse Party too. BD was pretty hyped at the time because it was a return to the much beloved gameplay of the first game. But instead it completely drops the ball not only storywise but technically (so many of the bad ends in the first two games kept me up at night. In Blood Drive bad ends made me laugh more than anything).

For BoS you could just not play the last chapter since the rest of the game is just side stories and what ifs but that's hard to resist yeah.

Book of Shadows is my favorite Corpse Party title, Blood Drive had it tough following that up.

Oh yeah, I cant wait to play CP2.

I really enjoyed Blood Drive, and it actually made me want to play more games in that crazy universe, so much that even with it's terrible performance on Vita I still played it enough to get the platinum trophy

Cant wait for Dead Patient.
