We've been receiving threats of physical violence over this partnership. We understand that it may be frustrating to people who would have liked to use their Gamer's Club discount on Yooka-Laylee and Golf Story, but we would appreciate it if people could maintain an open mind about this. We're going to make sure that we do right by our fans! If this partnership does not end up being the right move for us as a business, we won't continue to pursue it on future titles.

the hell is wrong with these people, getting mad about more people being able to buy the game? i thought the limited run market was mainly for adults and not kids

The Best Buy deal seems like good news all things considered. The long email covered a lot of potential concerns in advance and LRG offering cover sheets online is good enough for me.

I could easily see sealed versions of titles where BB ordered smaller quantities than the LRG pre-order numbers becoming sought-after collectors items, that might rub some folks the wrong way. But I don't get how anyone could be insane enough to threaten LRG over something like this.

Switch carts come game card only, they have to go about packing them themselves.
If it's like 3DS there should be two options; bulk card or finished goods (which adds 90¢ per card). Nintendo offers the cheaper bulk option for publishers that want to source their own case/inserts/assembly. Maybe Wii U only offers bulk discs now though?

I guess they get hate from 2 different directions.. the people who could have saved a few bucks with GCU, and the wieners who want something other people can't have.. otherwise they don't want it.

It's a crazy world.. yeah threaten people over Starbucks money.

I just wanted to say I've received the mail about the Best Buy deal, and I'm very happy with how thorough and honest it is written.
I wasn't even aware there was a "fuss" going on since I haven't connected often this week, so it totally defused it before I even raised any eyebrow ^^

I think the Best Buy deal was handled pretty poorly, the long email doing damage control shows that. But I'm pretty happy because of the chance to get 20% off and free shipping. My LRG purchases have really slowed down this year but this might make me grab some games I normally wouldn't.

If we were not working directly with Best Buy – nothing is stopping them from ordering through our normal channels since these games are manufactured to demand.
No, because if they were ordered through the site like normal, they'd be paying full price, which obviously isn't the case.

want to make sure that everything regarding the Best Buy partnership is clearly and concisely communicated.
*After pre-orders of both games have already been taken, one of which had no notice of the Best Buy deal at all, and the other only a small blurb in an email newsletter. Nothing on the product pages.

Oh man, so did they manage to source the original art for the Vita release? That's great! Personally, I much prefer the original art to their reproduction, so I guess I'm going to be double dipping.
It would be cool if they offered that cover variant for the PS4/Switch versions as well, but ahh well! I'm just happy that they managed to release a version with it at all! :)

What ever happened to that 32X colour variant of the PS4 cover, by the way? I remember hearing that it didn't end up happening, but I don't think I ever heard why.

The BB thing is great. Can't believe it somehow got met with backlash. Hopefully other retailers pick up on it too over time. The more copies out there of any given game, the better.

They explain that they couldn't reveal the deal before Golf Story's preorder window because it wasn't finalized. Imagine if they did say BB might get GS only for the deal to fall through. Then you'd have people angry they were trying to wait for a game that they can no longer get. I do agree that with Yooka-Laylee they probably could have been more forward than the newsletter, but at least they will be disclosing Best Buy sold games going forward. On that note, the open pre-orders are still better than the absolute limit for Best Buy, so I'll have to weigh that when that third game is revealed.

So I saw no mention of the Outlast games on here. They went up today and i'm saddened to know that Outlast 1&2 are not sold as one. I mean they are but it's $65!! Outlast 1 is $30 and Outlast 2 is $35. This kind of breaks my heart and now I don't know what to do. What is coming up for Switch in November? Any ideas? That might have to be my deciding factor.

Children with bad attitudes in adult bodies is more like it. They are toxic individuals, and they're apart of what holds us back, as a community.

is it not the usual digital price + $10 for LRG to make money and fund physical production? i think they're 32gb carts each too so i doubt LRG will be making much

Hot take here, but the only people pissed off about the BB deal are people who care more about the investment/perceived rarity of LRG than actually having a physical game to own and enjoy. LRG working with BB is a win for indie gaming and I'm happy they're expanding.

Tangentally, I'm surprised how many games I've been skipping lately. There's just so much stuff that I already own on PS4 and can't justify double dipping on. Ah well, at least some of my long awaited preorders are finally shipping.

Agreed with the hot take. Its not like they're making these releases harder to acquire. Depending on the title, you don't have to be the there the first three seconds to get a guaranteed copy. That's increasingly becoming a thing of the past now, and I for one am fine with that. The last time I even remember anything like that was Salt and Sanctuary, and allocation decreased for the first batch could have helped.

Underestimating "hot take" as it totally is as you say. Why else would anyone be mad, since plenty of people have had their GCU subs end already, so that's on Best Buy. This is grest for physicsl copies in general, in a world where the big companies are all "hey buy our digital deluxe copies!"

"Fun" story: I used to use my brothers GCU, especially after Amazon made that 20% off harder to get... it expired 10 days after BB killed the program.

It was a good run.

Some people just haven't been paying attention if they didn't see something like this coming. LRG are no longer the small company they were 3 years ago and moving to the preorder system has helped remove the extremely limited nature of their games, it wouldn't surprise me to eventually see more deals like this happen and production numbers increase further. For those who are collecting them as some sort of investment it will likely mean they'd avoid the larger runs (or pick them up on ebay when the cost decreases) but most others will see it as a good thing that their games are even easier to acquire.

For real I hadn't noticed it wasn't the same cover as before :o
Now that I know, I prefer this version too, but unfortunately I don't think I can afford to double dip. Plus I want to play the game on a big screen.

I am not sure about the 32X variant, but it was supposed to be a Reward Program Exclusive and they probably realized it was a can of worms best left unopened ^^

Re Proteus:

Josh also says further up that Vita games can be ordered through February? Might be time to start asking for more recent Vita stuff!

I'm pretty sure it was cancelled since it would have required an ESRB rating.
i asked josh last night and it's pretty much down to their releases requiring a new ESRB rating which Night Trap ironically avoided but the Vita and switch versions got them due to the fact they would've gone through a seperate rating to be released on LRG

I see they added an actual bundle for Outlast. That's kind of nice, even if it's probably just a piece of cardboard.

It would still need a product code already and his wording makes it sound more like some games might not get ordered by February. Don't get your hopes up.

Nope, because I got it as an image in a twitter chat. And can't remember my mighty rabbit forum login details to check josh's posting history (also might not be mighty rabbit, might be cheapassgamer or something, I can't really tell)

Edit: here's a different source

I can't find it on the site, but can anyone point me to where I can check LRG shipping costs/info?
There isn't a fixed charge, it's based on size/weight/destination. In the USA the minimum is $5.50 and can fit a couple games at that rate, international starts around $15. Just plug some in-stock stuff into your cart and start checking out to see about what to expect.

When will the next Switch titles start to be sent? Especially Thumper and Yooka-Laylee I mean.
I can wait for the rest but I really want to play those two.

Guess I should be a little more specific in what I meant. Are the delivery charges just that, for delivery, or do they include the customs/tax/etc that would be included if I imported from Amazon.com to EU?
