Should you read every book in Skyrim? And what are the top five books in Skyrim? Brian David Gilbert is once again put in a suit and locked in a room in order to answer those eternal questions.

Lots of the books are "grandfathered", but there are 571 pages with 316,000 words in total. He also put them into several categories and made a top 5 most recommended books in Skyrim.

It's an entertaining and informative video.

I remember seeing someone saying that they loved having Skyrim ported over to the Switch, because now they could read the books while on the go/while traveling and waiting at the airport.

I was about to say how sad this is, but 571 pages is actually very low page count. I was very surprised.

Really cool. While I have my issues with these publications, I still like some of the content they put out which is why I don't swear off any one place.

Will watch!

My personal favorite books are Fall of The Snow Prince and The Underking*. ^^' Objectively, though, yes we all know -- The Lusty Argonian Maid is as good as it gets...

EDIT: *The Arcturian Heresy I meant, haa... Haha. >_<

Not here for this lusty argonian maid slander. Slow burn is the best tag on any website, and watching seven acts of argonian sexual tension sounds amazing.

And what are the top five books in Skyrim

1. The Lusty Argonian Maid
2. The Lusty Argonian Maid
3. The Lusty Argonian Maid.
4. The Lusty Argonian Maid.
5. The Lusty Argonian Maid.

Not sure if it's on Skyrim, but my favorite is the one where the writer's mentor travels across the different realm of Oblivion.

Edit : The book is called The Doors of Oblivion and chronicle a person journey through various realm of Daedric Prince.

Lol. Actualy, The Lusty Argonian Maid is not included in his recommendations. But he did mention it.

Whenever I start an Elder Scrolls game I'm like "OK this time I'm going to collect and read all the books!" and then I read like 5 and remember I'm supposed to be *playing* a *game*

The writing in these books aren't very good, in my opinion.

About on par with the quality of the quests.

571 pages is light reading tho. And most of the books are redundant or single pages so it's more about finding all of them than the actual reading that makes it challenging.

571 pages at 5.5 font size. That's ridiculously small font. We're looking at 830 Word documents at default font size and I personally hate the default.

I think the presenter is making a mistake with his analysis of the historical texts. He touches on that mistake when he mentions towards the end the accounts can be significantly different depending on who wrote it so it becomes compelling non-fiction to unravel the bullshit. That is what pushes reading about history from boring to fun and engaging.

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this video, even though I don't care a bit about Skyrim. Good stuff.

Didn't they release these books as hardcovers a while back? Might be a good momento for hardcore fans.

Well I have so many hours in Oblivion & Skyrim mostly because I read every new book I found in the game... probably not found every book, but I remember that often I found books in Skyrim that I had already read in Oblivion and so skipped them...

Some books are quite interesting.

As defined by Einstein, Time is after all, relative.

Glad some people had the time to do that.

So much whiplash from those jump cuts... I watched it, but I didn't find it especially interesting or funny.

Yeah I find most book entries in RPGs are uninspired and boring unfortunately. However I'll give Skyrim some credit (I'm a PS3 player so I have a seething hatred for that broken game and Bethesda), the one book that sticks out to me from that game is The Real Barenziah. It's a 5 volume epic about the life of a dark elf. But I think listening to Skyrim's soundtrack while reading those entries made them more epic than they probably were.

Of course everyone should read the books. I know that for an American it sounds just crazy, actually reading something, but still. Read the books.

There's some really awesome stuff, from spiky Khajiit dicks and funky public sex to political thrillers.

He probably doesn't know how many pages ESO have. Taking screen grabs of them will fill your entire HDD.

Really good and fun video, going to check out his other content!

If I had the money I would pay for an all-star cast to enact the Lusty Argonian.

Interesting, but not a massive fan of the video, I don't find the attempts at being funny... very funny. But that's just me...

But yeah, enjoyed the content, I shan't be rushing to read the books agian on my next playthrough though!

Yes, I'm officially his new fan. Seems like he's just recently joined Polygon.
He joined at the end of 2017 I believe but he has been putting out more (or at least better) content on the Polygon youtube channel recently.

The video he made for his application continues to be absolutely outstanding.

I honestly loved reading about Manimarco (King of Worms) and Potema (The Wolf Queen) in the Conjuration books.

Also about how Battlemages have to really watch out for magical reserves during confrontations when we can essentially become gods after playing for sometime on Skyrim.

But nonetheless, Elder Scrolls have awesome lore.

315k words isn't actually too crazy. I was always impressed by the amount of lore and world-building that went into these games. Good on him for reading through all of it.
