I don't think this will be the most popular opinion but I would love a re-imagining of Diablo. Kinda like what was done with the new God of War. Changing from the top-down to a 3th person view possibly, closer to the action. Still could be multiple class, grind-fest, just in a new way.

Diablo 4. Look how quickly the interest in the Starcraft remaster came and went.

A remake basically which is what I would +1 on. Way more interested in that than a "remaster on PC."

I don't trust Blizzard with Diablo 4. Remaster Diablo 2 instead.

Nothing Blizzard would do can match Grim Dawn's excellence.

Remasters are a console thing though, Blizzard is typically PC focused and on PC you don't get remasters because upgrading your computer is already remastering all your games. Yeah SC got remastered but not without it's downsides which is the art looks too silly clean?

Id be in anyday with a remastered version of D2 with cleaner graphics, better trading system, better matchmaking ( prevent those online bastard who turn evil for pvp lol ) , spambot free. Console or PC, i would be ready . Cannot compare what they did with Starcraft ( not a fan myself to be able to compare ) , just wish IF it happen, previous issue will be corrected.

Before Blizzard tempered expectations I was sure that they would announce Diablo 4 on Friday. Now I think we'll get a teaser image, at most, or the official title, and then silence until Blizzcon 2019. It sucks, but they at least managed to lower my expectations. Anything more than that will be awesome, of course.

Realistically they'll probably announce either Diablo or Diablo II remastered (or both), and probably also the mobile game whatever that is. I would take Diablo 4 over any of those, 100%.

Both, but Diablo 4 otherwise I guess. Replaying Diablo 2 on a PC doesn't interest me much, so unless they somehow worked out how to port it to consoles and make it play as good as Diablo 3 does in that space, eh, let D2 rest.

I'd take a Diablo 4 any day of the week*. Playing through Path of Exile and D3 back to back recently, I still love this genre and I still believe D3:RoS' combat is still way up there as far as action RPGs go. I just wish we didn't have the original game under there that feels like it's still holding back a great end-game experience.

*I'd still love a Diablo 2 remaster that worked in 21:9 at 1440p without compromising my experience though. Being too young to get invested in and really understand the sort of mechanical depth was present in that game's character building is one of my few big gaming regrets.

I'd never choose a remaster over a new entry, for any series, no matter how much I loved a game.

I also don't trust modern Blizzard to not fuck up the sanctity of Diablo 2.

D2 Remastered. I have zero faith that D4 will turn out any better than D3, which I was massively disappointed by. D3 plays well, I'll give it that, but it completely lacks the oppressive atmosphere and art design of the first two, and that's the entire reason I played those games. Hell, I didn't even like dungeon crawlers in general when I played Diablo 1 as a wee lad, and yet I stuck through till the very end just because I couldn't wait to see what creepy, weird, mildly terrifying room I opened next, and every play through was different due to the randomized map so it still feels fresh to get into even today. The only thing about D1 that's aged badly is honestly the controls, so my happy medium would be a D1 and D2 remastered package that comes with improved controls and a run for D1 ala the Hellfire expansion.

I wouldn't mind a D4 if the artists, writers, and environment designers of D3 were kept far away from it and they instead focused on the atmosphere of D1 and 2 as something of a baseline for which to build off of.

Want Diablo 4, but I don't think it's happening for a while, so I guess I'll take what I can get.

I really don't want to be a kill joy.... but I'm pretty sure the announcement at blizzcon won't be for a game. Instead it'll be for the Netflix animated show, that's it. Anyway on topic, I really haven't gotten Diablo as much as I wanted to so a remake of 2 which is supposedly the high point of the series would be great for a newb like myself.

D4 is more foreboding tone as per D1 & D2...

D3 went too much into 'fantasy'...i want it to be more like 'medieval horror' feel.

Hellgate: London was ahead of its time.

As much as I'd love a Diablo 2 remaster, I think it's best to move forward. Of course what would be best is to have both games.

I never play diablo. So if i want to choose, i prefer d4 since it will be bunch of new assets and a whole total new experience to me

D3 feels more similar to WoW than D1/D2, so I'm ambivalent toward either option. I'm not against putting the franchise to rest, as someone who played 2 on and off for 18 years.

I want both honestly.

I'd like Diablo 2 remaster for consoles (i really like the way they made D3 for a gamepad) and Diablo 4 with some new direction after that.

Loved D2, but post-expansion D3 was great fun with my wife and I am looking forward to the next game.
