I had never heard of his channel before this, so no, I can't. But I can tell you he's definitely wrong, and I believe him when he claims his info comes from sources. I just think the sources he's got are pulling the wool over his eyes and I feel bad that he's being targeted that way.
If a small time youtuber has sourced at Microsoft and uses them to boost views on his channel than Banjo will be announced as unlockable in Smash Melee tomorrow.
No one is a leaker until they actually leak something legit.

This is the impression I get too. I wouldn't be surprised if someone sent him info and he was like "who are you" and they were like "I am an add exec at Microsoft and I knew all about this leak for a while" and he was like "oh shit" and then made videos.

Serious question to some of you. Do you honestly believe legit leaks for a Smash game are going to come from an unknown smash fan who makes YouTube videos?

Maybe Banjo is DLC with Minecraft and the reason insiders are so sure he isn't on the base roster is because they know he'll be revealed alongside Master Chief at the Game Awards.

He has said in his videos that his source is not a person from Microsoft, but it is a person that has a source at Microsoft. He said this intermediate person is someone he finds credible and that we would find credible if we knew who they were. Which implies to me that it is another journalist or insider speaking to him, allegedly. That that as you will. Just wanted to point out that he's not saying his source is directly from Microsoft.
In this and most if not all cases, absolutely not.

Yes, I agree that's all possible. And I even agree we maybe shouldn't call him a leaker since he has no track record yet. But he has actually read direct messages from his sources in his videos. He's being very open and honest. I think worst case he is being duped. But it's also possible he really does have a source at Microsoft that no one else does. We have no idea what his friend circle is like.
I have friends who work at a few different Video Game companies just tell me stuff that doesn't become public knowledge for years, some still hasn't. And it comes out of us just shooting the shit and talking. Now, I'd never share that info at all with random people on the Internet, but it doesn't mean others don't.

The legit Brawl leaks came from randos on GameFAQs and Smashboards (one of them was even a troll that somehow got legitimate information).

I mean we get leaks from anonymous message board posters so it's not out of the realm of possibility. People find Vergeben a credible leaker and from what I understand, he's never been more than just an faceless poster.

But in every hobby I have legit leaks come from random people who post stuff on forums. Because it's a quick and dirty way to do it anonymously.

Random new people, including anonymous people, do get accurate information sometimes. It's not that abnormal. On the flipside, super reliable industry insiders sometimes get incorrect info. It happens. No one has a 100% track record. Doesn't mean we should believe this guy more than reliable people. But given this is all just pre-release speculation and discussion, there's no reason we can't entertain what he has to say and discuss the possibilities it presents.

I want to make it is clear that this is just my interpretation. I don't know if there it's an actual insider or journalist. Just that his source isn't directly from Microsoft. And I don't get your second point. Why would other journalists know if a fellow journalist was speaking to a Youtuber anonymously? It's not like they all get in a room and tell each other everything. Even among the insiders here, there seems to be inconsistencies about who knows what with regards to Smash Ultimate so clearly they are not telling all to each other.
I do have to say, people generally being asses and wanting to shut down conversation that doesn't conform explicitly to what they believe is true is really disheartening and makes it hard to have a conversation. It is part of why people think this community is toxic. Why can't people just let other people speculate instead of shouting them down? It's supposedly what this topic is for.
I don't believe Incineroar as DLC is likely but the one reason I'm not ruling it out completely is because we had Pokémon DLC for Wii U and I can see it as possible it was super profitable and sold way more than any other DLC character.

People are debating. People getting mad at others because they don't believe a Youtube newbie instead of multiple industry insiders are the ones not interested in discussion.
Also, the comparison about toxicity is ridiculous. That rumor thread was reading more like r/T_D than a Smash thread, it's not even comparable
