If we really want to go down this road, "sexualized teens" is probably the equivalent of Hatred, and that wasn't received well, either.the hypocrisy between glorifying gracious hyper violence content and censoring sexual content will never not be amusing
Is the CERO rating that useless that Sony thought that making every dev go through the ERSB (and presumably forcing them to pay for both of them since i'm pretty sure they won't) was needed?
Something similar also happen to the Toe Jam and Earl devs, in that they needed to do changes for its future release.

Agreed, i wonder what type of people are offended by Sony taking action? If it means less of the creepy pedobait games I say good.
Good riddance.
Wtf?
Would you like it if Sony of America sent a North American dev through certification process in Japanese?
The ones not reading the OP? Agreed.
I mean furries exist, so how is getting off to anime girls weirder?Fuck all those creepy anime fucks that get off on seeing teenaged, polygonal panty shots. Good for Sony to evolve.
I will proudly kink shame people that HAVE to look at video game and plastic doll panties or else they just go crazy with sexual frustration.
Huh, nice to hear. I guess this happens when I don't have a twitter account to follow conversations.
Yeah, this is the big issue. Devs and publishers can go through all the necessary steps to get their game released and now Sony can effectively put a roadblock in the way just so they can get their way, adding in all kind of expenses and manpower that didn't need to be spent otherwise. I don't see what Sony gains from moving in this direction, other than a moral victory that everyone will forget about in less than a week. Can't be the ERSB rating as Sony doesn't accept that either: see SK getting a rating with the mode and then Sony still telling Marvelous to remove it.
Yeah Sony will save the gaming industry! /sGood. If Sony can lead the way in destroying the stranglehold that the more deviant parts of the otaku fandom have on Japanese game design, I'm all for this.
Well, if this allows for the continued growth of Japanese games on PC (and potentially Switch), then good... I can only applaud this decision then.
Not sure which ones you mean
Case in point...I guess people are going to go elsewhere for their paedophile fever dream games.
This is much bigger than something minimal and niche like those games. And there's no porn on consoles, only in PC. CERO censors those things for jp console games.
What's sexually explicit in Japanese games on major hardware, though? Nudity is already heavily censored as it is and I don't think CERO allows for sex scenes to begin with.
Seems like Omega Labyrinth got both PEGI and ESRB ratings as well, so this is clearly Sony pushing things further than demanded by the ratings boards. Can't be the ERSB rating as Sony doesn't accept that either: see SK getting a rating with the mode and then Sony still telling Marvelous to remove it.
"I am silly"
Omg soon you facist, Amerikkkans will be censoring my precious love statues!

I don't know exactly what the complaints are. Are they pissed because Sony is blocking pedo shit and female sexualization?
Lol "anata wa no pride (U)Sony, leave my underage half naked lolis alone!"
... wow, good arguments, you sure showed them.
Looks like it.
But this push for censorship of everything from the left lately is troubling. Kinda reminds me of the censorship push from the religious right in some ways.

This is an impressive stretch.Censoring of scantily clad girls under 18 is good. But this push for censorship of everything from those who lean left of late is troubling. Kinda reminds me of the censorship push from the religious right in some ways.
I guess the point is that they're already so heavily neutered as it is that I'm not sure what point there is by sanding them down even further. If Sony doesn't want these games at all, just kibosh them at the concept approval stage and be done with it. What they're doing here is frankly more alienating. The common theme with all of these games is that they have characters that are intended to be children being sexualized in one way or another. That seems to be what Sony's cracking down on. They don't seem to have an issue with sex or sexy designs when they're meant to be adults. As you see with the recently released SCV. Cyberpunk also won't be touched even though it's obviously going to have a bunch of content that would fall into that category. What it isn't going to have is children being put in that way.
Sorry, underage "pantyshots boob jiggle and lewd implications". Is that better?
I mean furries exist, so how is getting off to anime girls weirder?
Sexualization ≠ Borderline porn (or at worst, child molestation). As expected, of course people will react like that. Also, it's amazing how the comments are so similar to what we have on the west. lol
Where do you think those games launched? Those type of games are normally sold in Asia in general and in Japan.
No hentai is allowed in any console, this is the same for Japan.
And those two franchises have quite a content on sexualization and many other things so huh, sure.
I love this post.Good, Sony. Keep trash hentai games out of PlayStation, keep things like Nier or Persona.
Fuck all those creepy anime fucks that get off on seeing teenaged, polygonal panty shots. Good for Sony to evolve.
