thanks!,
im gonna go get the long bow that i heard is in darkroot garden or somewhere around
I would actually strongly discourage taking him down with a bow. Because so many players used to kill the drake by shooting his tail hundreds of times, From Software patched in a mechanic where the drake starts healing after a certain amount of damage with a bow. So taking him down with a bow is extremely hard and actually very much impossible on early levels. My advice would be to time right and just run like hell. If you run just as the flames are out, you will make it.

Is it lame to disconnect the internet when you get invaded? Lol. I've done it twice now. Both times I was about to make it to a bonfire and quit my game. Ain't got time for no invasion

*shrug*

I play Souls games offline. I ain't got time to deal with nerds wasting their time on griefing.

I played Demon's Souls online in the last days and I had two online experiences.

- A summon who stepped on a trap button and got me killed.

- A Black Phantom Old Monk who ran away the entire time.

Well I do like being summoned by someone to test out a new boss. So online mode has its merits. But the whole pvp thing isn't my thing. Maybe if I win a few rounds I'll feel different

One of my goals when I triple dipped on this was to help new players with some tougher fights. I'm getting ready to go to Anor Londo and would like to park outside of O&S for a long time to sun bro. I'm a bit overleveled since I did some areas out of order (I think level 52?) so I'll make sure to not level anymore. I've heard that weapons levels also affect summon ranges, though. Usually, I would go down and grab the very large ember to get +15, but I'm worried that I won't be able to get summoned by people for O&S. Do you think people will bet at +15 by then, or should I fight my way up with +10?

Other than your level, I don't think your Estus flask kindling matters at all? More about the level you're at, I could be wrong. Hell if you were brave enough, you could've got that from the get go right?

I was merely referencing your 'I would go down and grab the very large ember to get +15, but I'm worried that I won't be able to get summoned by people for O&S.' but yeah. Also I don't think weapon has an effect, just actual level level.

The very large ember isn't for estus flask kindling. And yeah they added some weapon level influence to summoning levels with the remaster, at least in the ps4/pc version.

Been having no luck at getting summoned the past few days. I imagine it's my level. I'm at 65 with a +15 demon axe. Did I mess up?

Didn't pay for online service on Switch so I play offline, but the Remastered on PS4 / X1 / PC had char lvl + weapon lvl restriction for online unless using a password. It might be your +15 lvl weapon.

The matchmaking system always seemed so dumb. I feel that once you hit NG+ it ought to be an "all bets are off" situation where you can be invaded or joined by anyone, but From loves their byzantine SL-based system, which isn't a good indicator of player skill.

I'm having a hell of a time being summoned for Smough and Ornstein at SL 53.

I'm not a huge achievements person, but the lack here is noticeable. I got used the achievement queues from mulitiple playthroughts of the other versions of this game.

Should've added fake achievements like Hollow Knight.

The summoning thing is weird to me because anyone I've been summoning into my games have been fucking tanks that melt away boss HP extremely quickly. I was wondering what level they were etc (I wish you could see that).

I've not been summoned a single time yet. I had a +10 Claymore and just modded it to Lightning +2. Not sure what level I am, sl50 maybe.

In vanilla that would've been spot on for O&S. The weapon upgrade matchmaking was a mistake imo. It never really got better than vanilla DS1 for matchmaking, they started messing with it in DS2 and it was downhill from there.

So if you have a +something it narrows the range for co-op? You have to be closer to the other person playing in terms of level? So a +15 weapon would make it very hard to find another player? Seems weird, especially when things like Sorcery are so OP in DkS1.

I love the Silver Knight gear, even though maybe it's not the best, and it's inefficient to upgrade (requires Twinkling Titanite). Do love it though, even if you do look tiny next to the enemy ones.

The weapon level affecting co-op, that the weapon you have equipped, or any in your inventory? I assume it must be the latter otherwise you could use swap it out when you connect.

First time I've done a sorcery play through despite owning the game 5 times and wow magic really wrecks most of the bosses huh? Even O & S.

If weapon lvl restriction is place, the game will permanently mark your weapon lvl once you upgrade or pick a weapon up. Dropping / removing the weapon and/or storing the weapon won't ever lower your weapon lvl.

Tonight I managed to beat Capra Demon and now I'm wondering around in the Depths. Beat a butcher guy. Fell down a hole. Bopped a giant rat. Bopped tons of little rats. Bopped some weird slime things. Found a bonfire. Bopped weird smoke things. Bopped a magician dude. Seem to be going in circles a bit now, but I'll have to leave the rest for tomorrow.

Felt great to finally start making progress again after being stuck on Capra Demon for a good 10-15 tries. Once I could (somewhat) consistently get to the stairs it wasn't so bad. That first part though...

Oooofff yeah those two do not like Sorcery at all. Pretty funny how ridiculous it is.

What weapons/gear do you have for your build?

I don't know if it's my past experience with this series, but I found this playthrough pretty easy so far. All the trouble spots so far I found easy. Blighttown was a breeze, Sen's Fortress as well and so was Anor Londo, even the O&S fight was really easy, I only died twice because I was being a bit careless.

Crown of Dusk, Crimson Robe, Brigand Gauntlets and Crimson Waistcloth for armour. Sorcerer's catalyst and a Claymore in the right hand, Dragon Crest Shield in the left. For rings I'm using the Bellowing Dragoncrest and White Seance.

so i made my +5 claymore into a divine/holy? claymore, and even if it has less attack points, it makes more damage

can someone tell me if there is any disavantages for this?

Divine adds an additional faith scaling, but it may lower the physical scaling a bit. The damage is now split between physical and faith, so you add those 2 numbers up. You may start dealing less eventually when enemies start having more resistances and your damage gets reduced twice.

On the bright side, you deal more to undead and you can spec a bit into healing magic without dropping your scaling. You can become a paladin of sorts!

I don't think there's a big audience here. Completed the game this morning and could only find a single person for summoning, three people who summoned my jolly help, and I was only invaded three times.

That's on par with a playthrough I did of SotFS a couple years after it came out.

The Remaster on PS4 when I replayed it earlier this year seemed to have a much larger player base.

So I finally got to the bottom of blightown and now I'm in a poisonous seamless filled with leeches. Couldn't find a bonfire anywhere on my way down. 0 estus flasks left and only 1 poisonous moss. This is a nightmare, when does it end.

All I need is a bonfire somewhere near the swamp and I'm good.

Also ok no my way down there were little flies that were messing me up, I couldn't see them I thought they were invisible. Took off so much of my HP/estus

There is a cave to the right in the big swamp (if coming from The Depths) as you drop down the many levels into Blighttown. In the cave is a bonfire.

New Londo is kicking my ass, even though I can pop a Transient Curse and one-shot everything. There's just too many of them.

I've been using Docked mode a lot (Pro Controller feels too good) and the world really shines at 1080p. It's amazing to see the Undeag Burg from the Sunlight Altar, or look down from the top of Sen's Fortress and see all the traps running below, or seeing all of Blighttown erected against the dank bottom of the valley with the castle town high above, it's just amazing. And I feel as though I'm discovering new stuff simply because I can spot hidden paths much more easily.

Lightning +2 is technically the same as a +12 weapon FYI. That's fairly high.

Bought this on a whim Wednesday night because I had the itch to revisit the game after beating Bloodborne last week.

Now that I'm much more experienced at these games I am flying through this one. A couple years ago I beat DS1 and almost every area/boss was big struggle. This time I'm beating bosses on 1-2 tries, already at Sens Fortress at 6 hours in (this is a big step up as this progress took me 15+ hours last playthrough).

Strength build with a +5 Zweihander just melts these early game bosses.
