If there is a Smash Direct there will 100% be more than 2 characters revealed, especially considering one of the supposed characters is an echo. There's just no scenario where only 1 unique character and 1 echo are revealed in the final direct in my opinion.

The ESRB leak was after the Robin reveal; nobody was saying that.
i've got my own people in the box and they're telling me:
We're still on the sprout. We're on the "insiders pop up to tell everyone that the leak is still wrong despite the new evidence" stage of the cycle right now.
Unfortunately we haven't had a reveal since, so now we don't know who to trust.
Ryce gave us the biggest breakthrough for the leak in that he has a roster leak he trusts and claims that the Grinch leak practically resembles none of it

Sure, but I don't see any reason to believe that just because a character was cut from Smash 4 they have to be in Ultimate. Yeah Chrom was, but he's also just an echo. It's very possible that whatever Sakurai thought up for Chorus Kids ended up not working the way he wanted it to. We know of characters cut from Brawl (like Dixie) and Melee (several) as well who have never made it into a Smash game. Sakurai has at least mentioned wanting to include/considering the other various Grinch leak characters, which he hasn't for Chorus Kids, but I think is equally compelling if that's the logic you're going with.

Sure that makes sense, but a general direct that mainly focuses on Smash could be the same format as e3's, which had one echo and one newcomer.

I don't see that as a realistic scenario. They aren't going to have a general direct promoting next years' games right before they launch their two major holiday titles. It takes attention away. And they just did a general direct last month.

The guy on reddit that has reconstructed the mural is done. To summarize, he thinks source material was used to make the picture, as the alternative would be a nightmare of photoshopping considering all the very small changes all over the place.
