It's possible, but the snapchat story had to be sent from the 50-year old guy's account.
I can buy a 50-year old using Snapchat just fine. If you want to start bringing age into the conversation, the more bewildering part would've been a 50-year old with likely decades of working experience (who would've been in his 30s when the original Smash released) posting a leak under the pretense of "fuck Nintendo" and has friends who post on 4chan.
Having said that, I don't feel comfortable talking about a person I don't even know and who may have had their identity stolen. It feels weird.

The use of Snapchat isn't the issue here. Snapchat has hundreds of millions of users of all ages.
The inconsistency to me here is a guy in his 50s creating an elaborate and highly detailed Smash leak. Most of these leaks seem to come from the 4chan troll types that are under 30. You would think someone in their 50s would outgrow that type of thing, and would have a wife and maybe kids that they would rather spend time with rather than working even more on top of their normal job to create some intricate leak. Or, you believe that this guy really had nothing to do with the leak, but someone that works with him and/or a friend made the leak and then framed this guy in the process.
If it's fake, none of this makes any sense.
There's already a lot of space there in the current iteration of the banner, where two Mii fighters are in the same spot.

Basically. Like I know there are no depths the Smash fandom won't plumb, but I figured impersonating a real guy and putting his job at stake was maybe still not a line to be crossed.
I can think of a guy who is 72 years old and probably knows people that post on /pol/.

False, you can change your display name on Snapchat at any time (your display name is not the same as your username) and you can also view your own stories and screenshot them too

That's grounded, but should be considered as well. Without going into checklist of franchises where stages could conceivably have sensible ladders, how does that interact with the "103 stages" thing?
I mean it could be a group of people. Who knows? If they all work at a company doesn't say a group of people don't get together to screw around.

Not necessarily. The only thing we know is that the Snapchat account used to take this video had this guy's name as the user name. I can make a Snapchat account right now called "Masahiro Sakurai" and take a video of my dog pooping but that doesn't mean Sakurai's real account was used.
And now that I'm thinking about it, it's entirely possible that the whole Snapchat thing was also faked, and they just took a normal photo and slapped on a few Snapchat-style emojis and text along with a name on the top left. I personally doubt this is the case but it's possible.
Either way we don't know for sure if the guy whose name appears took the Snapchat. Or if it was even his phone. All we know is his name was used as the user name for the Snapchat account.

I do think it's still fake though. Even though I've posted about both sides back and forth I do truly think it's an elaborate ruse. While all these characters DO make sense, the way the insiders have been going about this is a big red flag. Incineroar being one of the more prominent rumored fighters but not being in the mural is something else to think about.
The sprout is probably a coincidence and the other poster's idea of it being a beanstalk ladder to perform those ladder attacks is a good point of speculation so Isaac is still up in the air.
And frankly believing it as fake isn't really a losing situation because if it does turn out real then most people will be hype.
I think it's definitely a real leak. The source of it is too convincing for me to think otherwise. If someone went this far too fake it, then props to them.
I'm thinking fake but keeping an open mind. The background changes seem to suggest pretty clearly it's fake but it's in no way definitive.
