Want to hear what people did in a very early Chapter 2 choice
The guy who recognized you from blackwater. I killed him. Dude was going to rat me out if I let him live, I just know it.
In the barn?
I killed him

Yeah I got motion sickness from first-person mode even changed head Bob to reduce and couldn't play itThink so, yes. I get a little nauseous when using it, but it could very well be different with others.
I agree that not everyone should be generalized, but as a culture our attention spans have shrunk. Games are coming out at a faster rate than ever. Not only that, but you're able to get your hands on these games faster than ever. People want to pick something up and experience it right away. There are some in this thread who are itching at the download screen waiting for the game to get done downloading. That just seems like a recipe for disappointment.Of course there's room for slower experiences. Plenty of the most praised indie games are slow as fuck. Despite the fact that I'm responding to some of these idiots, I generally enjoy slow experiences too. I'm more or less enjoying it here, too.
But there's no room for sweeping generalizations of anyone who happens to find this certain slow experience boring, which is what I'm having issues with. The instant "ugh, people in CURRENT_YEAR really just want everything handed to them immediately" being the first response to anyone finding the beginning hours boring is fucking ridiculous.
Wow! I've been sick to death of every game following the same "Hold Left trigger to aim and press right trigger to shoot" crap for a decade now and I have in fact ranted in the past about how games fail to explore the concept of shooting a gun in a more evocative manner. This is kinda what I'm looking for. Haven't had an innovative gunplay control since Metal Gear Solid 3 in which the pressure on a face-button decided whether the gun was cocked or not (perfect tension for stealth!)
Dunno which game has more value for me at this moment, but you guys, I need someone to hype me up for either one.
Man I don't know if this was scripted or what. But damn coming across this scene was amazing

Complaining about the game being slow in its opening by definition means you wanted gratification faster. That's not anti-intellectual, its stating an obvious fact. And modern society absolutely does have a shorter attention span now than ever before.
If you're going to accuse anyone of being anti-intellectual on this topic, look in the mirror.
Aside from the handling/controls, my biggest complaint so far is the immense loudness of the PS4 when playing this lol. It gets fucking wild and hearing the whirring even through the headphones kinda pulls me out of the otherwise incredibly immersive game.
Hey, just responding on the same level.

The game really doesn't prepare you for that first legendary animal encounter. The person you're riding with asks if you want to stay and hunt it and I was like sure side content but the second I came upon it I died in two hits and I can't even find it now after loading lol
True, Sony is pretty good at dropping the price of its first party games. Probably 39.99 in November.Damn. I really enjoyed Spider-Man. That said, there is a lot of repetition where you'll be doing a lot of the same things over and over again. It's extremely well made, regardless, and it handles the Spider-man property very well. That said, I think you'll get more value out of Red Dead 2 for the time being. It probably isn't going to be long before Spider-Man gets a price drop, anyhow, with the holidays fast approaching.
Agree about controls. Feels counterintuitive to hold right trigger to aim and then let go to shoot
Brightness & contrast don't seem right on my Sony 4k hdr tv although I had no issues with other titles, anyone else? I tried tweaking but haven't been satisfied with the results

60 dollars is and will always be a lot of money to me. I have to choose between this and Spider-Man and I really can't decide. I think I like the Spider-Man IP a lot more but I'm not 100% hyped for Insomniac's take on it, but then again I barely know what is in the game's campaign beyond the core gameplay of swinging across the city. Meanwhile, I played the original RDR very late and frankly I kinda didn't get it. I thought the open-world was tedious, I thought the missions were tedious and full of "ride along while characters talk and do it again if you fail!" but I did like the relationship of Bonnie and John and especially the third act involving his family and also the ending, so I grew to like the game a lot after that.

It confused me at first but someone explained that if the gun was in a holster, and not in-hand, then you hold RT to whip it out , aim and then let go to shoot.
Early call but I think we have a contender for best OST of the year.
I just think people's attitude towards it is bizarre. This is more of a game you pick up and sink your teeth into over a holiday break rather than something you beat within the first week.
People having issues with the pacing and mechanics doesn't necessariky have anything to do with instant gratification. What is this arm chair psychology you're spouting. A game can be both exciting and slow paced. The two are not mutually exclusive

I feel like W3 controls are a lot more responsive than RDR 2, on the other hand RDR 2 animation system, body physics and collision detection are just some next gen shit compared to what W3 has. At the end of the day I think both games occupy similar place when it comes to open worlds . Both are pseudo realistic , immersive open worlds that heavily focus on narrative and its organic world and sense of place . The down time in both of these games are quite fantastic. And even they way tutorials are done . both games are very slow burn. And I consider W3 best game this gen and I hope RDR 2 comes close to it, since I see the potentialThe movement and controls is my biggest issue right now. Too often I'm not doing what I'm meaning to do.
I felt the same about Witcher 3 though, and eventually it just becomes natural.
There is too great stuff here. I know the game will be incredible after an adjustment period.

If you're holding the gun in hand, then you use standard LT to aim then RT to shoot
Agency is not always expressed through unmitigated freedom. In fact, in game design (I'm considering TTRPG design right now, but I would say that applies to videogames too) agency is more often than not defined by restrictions and interactions.

Damn could they of made these health and stamina icons any more smaller? I know you can increase them but then it takes up a giant quarter of the bottom left. Wish I could increase the icons and keep the map the same size.
Also fuck games with HDR that options are essentially "eh. You pick which looks good". Shit drives me crazy and I turned it off becasue I couldn't find a good setting.
You aim and press press square or x depending on controller I think you also need to be moving in a direction
