I just got done completing this game and let me tell you, it's one of the best games I've ever played. The experience is not to be missed by anyone that even slightly enjoys platformers.

The graphics are nothing mind-blowing but it doesn't matter when it's so aesthetically pleasing. Bright vibrant colours, fun locations, enjoyable enemy designs (if not a little repetitive at times). Astro Bot is the cutest little thing and should be Sony's mascot, because if this game is any indication of future quality, it could step toe to toe with the best of them.

This game reminded me of when I played Mario 64 back at launch. It was so cool controlling Mario in that 3D space for the first time, and I got that same feeling again with Astro Bot in VR. It took 22 years to recapture that feeling again. And it still hasn't gotten old controlling this little guy - just magical.

Difficulty wise, it's challenging enough to be fun and not a snooze fest, but it's not super hardcore so don't expect that.

The music is hands down some of the best I've heard. Every single track was a hit, and not just a hit, but so damn catchy. Just take a listen to this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3iXp9l67yk

The game fires on all cylinders and has just as much charm as the best Nintendo games (I use Nintendo as I'm a big fan of them).

I made a thread earlier about how I was struggling to justify a PSVR purchase, and I can say now without question that just for this game alone, it's worth it. If you were like me and were super curious but were not convinced enough to pull the trigger, you are so close to making one of the best gaming decisions of your life.

Such a shame it's VR only. I'd play a watered down Non-VR version.

The VR is what makes it so immersive and memorable though. Take that out and it becomes a pretty standard platformer. A polished one, yes, but without the VR integration, I think it would lose a lot of its magic in terms of scope and how connected it makes you feel with the game world.

I think of Lucky's Tale, and that didn't feel like it gained much from being in VR. This though, really feels like it was designed around the technology, which in a way is a very Nintendo way of doing things.

I'd love to play this, looks very charming, but PSVR makes me pretty ill. Hope it sells well though, as I want this tech and its media to keep getting better and better.

It's one of those games that is insta buy territory at its RRP of like ÂŁ30-35 (heck I even already bought it for ÂŁ25 last week or so) but the added expense of the headset? Nah, it's not that good at all. Especially coming from someone incredibly lukewarm on the experience of VR overall, what with the sweating and cumbersome nature of it all.

Might be worth a shot. I generally don't feel good after 15 minutes with other VR games, but I can play this one for hours. I think it has to do with the forward movement being controlled by the player in most cases.

i feel like you both are looking at the title the wrong way

its saying Sony made a Nintendo quality platformer, not that its better than Nintendo platformers

I read it that way too. But it will cause Nintendo fans to say it's not on the same level and Sony fans to say it's not Sony best platformer. But I was mostly joking, the title is fine it's on the users here not to engage like that.

Love it.
Sometimes feels like Super Mario 3D World, sometimes like Super Mario Galaxy, sometimes like Super Mario Oddysey...But with you walking behind Astro all the way.

If I ever get PSVR, this will be purchase number 1. Following Dreams, as that and this may get me to take the plunge.

Astrobot, your game seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?

Like can you back of at this point seriously? What I said was perfectly reasonable and didn't warrant you butting in like this. It comes across kinda creepy TBH, I'd kinda like to be able to post in AB/VR threads without having you on my case anymore.

Crash is the best game published by Sega in the Switch when it was originally a exclusive Playstation game published by Sony

I have looked at footage and it doesn't convince me, this is reminding me of those people that claimed that Pupeeter was a Nintendo style platformer.

I guess that it could be comparable to modern Yoshi which is pretty? Although that I don't hold that one to high regard.

Yup one of my favorite games of all time too.
That song you picked is my favorite from the game.
I need to get back in and save the remaining bots.

There should be more VR arcades around to try some VR games for one hour for a few bucks. As it stands right now it's not worth the investment, but I wish I could experience it for an hour.

Wow you took it way too seriously. It was a joke. Let's be honest you're in every Astro Bot thread, for the opposite reason that I usually am.

If I was on your case I would have said something when I saw you celebrating AB's low sales in the Media Create thread.

Chill man it's just banter...

Looking at footage doesn't do this game justice as it needs to be experienced in VR. Just try the free demo out and see for yourself. If you don't have a PSVR, well, just trust me on this, lol.

That's the problem. Astro Bot looks kinda bad in footage to me, experiencing it in VR is another animal though.

Yoshi is a good comparison point I feel. It completely lacks the open-endedness to be compared to 64, Sunshine and Odyssey and its level design in markedly different to the 2 Galaxy games. Its more linear nature is comparable to 3D World but it lacks a few key features there too- the timer, score system, multiplayer, power-ups different playable characters etc.

A 3D Yoshi game? Yeah I can see that being true. There are definitely several similarities IMO.

What other "nintendo games" does Sony have? I'm curious. First time I read about it. I agree that it gives me that Nintendo vibe when I watch Astro Bot footage, though.
