The reason MS wanted the more powerful machine is specifically for situations like these. Most people won't splinter off but portions of the enthusiast crowd will, and that is why MS have been trying to court back. The only reason base PS4 was able to outpower Xbox One was because MS intentionally aimed low with base XB1. Sony themselves intentionally aimed conservatively, MS just far more so
Wouldn't dynamic resolution be preferable to maintain the frame rate? Is there a reason they didnt do that? Its 1080p, with some dips to high-mid 20s occasionally in towns and some cutscenes.
resolution really doesn't matter much beyond 1440p. Unless, you know, you want it to matter ;)
Thanks the other bundle with 2k19 is even better.

Sure if u don't run both version side by side every version is good .../sSo with the game installed and fired up on my Pro and 55" 4K Sony Bravia. I have to say the game looks fantastic. Zero disappointment here.
People really need to stop panicking about blurry zoomed in screenshots, which will obviously look blurry, at standard viewing distance, this game is bloody gorgeous.
It might not be the sharpest looking game, I feel like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn look more crisp, thanks to their CB rendering technique and it's a shame Rockstar didn't go the same way here too but RDR2 is still more than a fine looking game, it's certainly not bad.
Looking side by side with the X version shows the biggest difference, thanks to the native 4k but on it's own merit, the Pro version looks totally fine and there's nothing here that will ruin my experience with what is possibly the game of the generation.
4K in terms how it looks.... Spider-Man, Horizon, GoW.... looks like 4K which is all that matters. Then again, resolution is the least important in terms of image quality beyond a certain point.
Now you're thinking - sure, he says that because he's a PS4 fan. Nope, I really like Xbox. I plan on getting it soon for Halo, GoW, bluray player, great controller, Game Pass.... but PS4 Pro does good enough 4K for me. And resolution really doesn't matter much beyond 1440p. Unless, you know, you want it to matter ;)
Is there a reason for that? I assumed it was an easy solution to maintain frame rateSomeone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Rockstar has ever done dynamic res on a console.
Not sure I understand your question? Did you mean how the doubling of pixels translates to the visual output when downsampling?
The tv manufacturers/film makers/ games devs and everyone involved with creating 4K content should have spoken to you before investing time money and effort into 4K

I wonder if ill feel like a bum for not owning a Pro, I want the best experience, but Im going to assume the Pro upgrade isn't substantially noticeable
Upgrade? It's a downgrade lolWouldn't dynamic resolution be preferable to maintain the frame rate? Is there a reason they didnt do that?

When I say this, keep in mind that for me, controller preference trumps small differences in visuals.
While I don't think you will see a direct comparison anywhere but I would suspect the Visual differences in your situation will not be that dramatic.
If it were me, controller preference would be more important
Yes. You are getting a native 4k game downsampled to 1080p. It will look amazing :)
The stuff they're pointing out (like the reconstruction/CB artifacts on foliage, etc.) is the kind of thing that is constantly annoying me in DQ11's outdoor areas.Reading over this thread makes me wonder if some folks have actually sat through and listened to the DF video.
It shouldn't be a surprise that the X performs the best but the pro really isn't as far behind as one would think reading this thread. Some of the things DF pick up on would be overlooked by most people.
HDR is just so-so
Just shows you what the 1X can really do with if the developers use the power properly. The last few games have been a mixed bag. Tomb Raider/AC Odyssey on 1X are mediocre to bad while Horizon 4 and RDR2 are incredible.
I wish MS would invest more in their studios, tbh, which seems like what they are doing. No one should buy one console over the other for this resolution nonsense. I honestly hope MS brings some great titles to the table. I'm getting the X because of a new Halo, not because of "true 4K"....

FYI this is a comparation thread

Ultimately, I think the game looks good on all consoles. Going from 1S to 1X though is staggering.
Well i just bought an xbox one x, but still got game on PS4.
All my friends are there and i see the difference but after watching easy allies review, it still looked crazy. So good enough

I did want one mainly for Horizon so thats qhy i took the jump from my S
Yes it is. There's also a feature where you can enable or disable the minimap on the fly so you don't need to go into the menus to disable it.Can someone let me know if it's possible to completely remove the hud and map
The pro looks absolutely good and also the Xbox s version is okay ..no one should be worriedI know it's a DF comparison and tech analysis thread. I was sharing my views after booting up the game on my PS4 Pro, for other Pro owners that are worried the game looks bad or really blurry, it doesn't, it looks great.
Not sure what your point of replying to me was really, other than trying to rub it in the X version looks better, which we all know, so pointless comment really.
its worse than I could have possibly imaginedK. Many of us predicted this thread would be a mess days ago, but jesus motherfuckin christ omg hahaha...your hurt and pain is palpable! This thang even blew up more than the review thread.I do not get it. I don't.
I cant really notice much past 864p tbh.for me. And resolution really doesn't matter much beyond 1440p. Unless, you know, you want it to matter
Haha i was in the car and was still in the bag.
Hoping that when i install the game on PS4 i dont regret it.
nopeAny graphical settings in the menus ?
Film grain
Chromatic aberration
Contrast
Motion blur ?
Wow. These are the comparisons pics Im looking for, as I dont want to spoil the video by watching the video comparison. Yikes at base PS4. I hope that blurry face is just zoomed in and not actually that noticeable. Id hate to constantly see it. X1X is quite beastly, Im super jealous. I wonder if I can see this running in a store like Best Buy.
