For what it's worth, both Liam Robertson and Vergeben said that PlatinumGames is doing Viewtiful Joe 3 with Capcom. (But of course Viewtiful Joe will never be considered as the "next big Capcom game").

Handles are different but that's pretty much the only detail and it'd be more than enough similar for Sakurai to say that he needed that rifle for inspiration.
They look similar, but I don't think it looks much more similar than, like, the original Gundam's beam rifle when you're ignoring the front grip. The similarity is mostly because there are only so many standard gun body types.

Honestly after everything we're seeing of this leak some 50 year old French dude Snapchatting the story and someone involved not censoring his name properly still sounds plausible. Give some old folk more credit especially ones that would be involved with using stuff like CAD. I don't think Snapchat would be that foreign to them especially for social purposes.

I'm definitely on the Vergeben train. Ken, Incineroar, Square character, Banjo Kazooie and Minecraft sounds great to me.

Yeah it's weird that so many people seem to know about Incineroar. If nothing else that's leading me to believe that if Incineroar is legit we are getting more than just him and Ken.
Everytime we had leaks about someone or something in the game we got that and more.

I don't see too many 50 year olds using Snapchat but even then I believe that a 50+ year old that has been in graphic design for over 35 years would know how to properly edit his name out of a photo. Anyone with half a brain can take care of that in a few seconds

You don't deserve this. I would do what others suggested and report the account to Twitter/block them and inform the police if possible. If they use iPhone's you can block the numbers on the software level so they can at least stop getting the calls. Not sure if Android has anything similar.
He stated on Gamefaqs that he's not denying what PapaGeno said as far as the characters outside of what he knows which is Ken, Incineroar and Square rep. He's denying the entire Grinch rumor.

My guess is still that we don't learn much from focusing on the details; he probably wanted something that works well with his existing animation setup (i.e. a gun that fits with his Microman figures).
Actually, is there any way we can confirm the sizes? I looked up a Microman figure on Amazon and saw that it was 13.2 cm, then I looked up the Vifam figure (there's one with that exact same image), but it doesn't say a size.
I shouldn't need to explain this. Sakurai going to Microsoft would be to ask for the popular Smash character being Banjo. At the same time he gets some Minecraft since that's a huge game in its own right.

He didn't use the mech though, he specifically mentioned only using the rifle.

Man now I'm sad because of the possibility that Isaac won't make it in. I assured myself I wouldn't get in to root for any character for this game, but I just can't.
