I haven't played the beta myself and neither has the writer of this article, but I'm really worried after reading this. He is mainly referring to the warning Bethesda issued about bugs and other "spectacular issues."

Here, have some quotes:
It's worrisome to me, on the eve of the Fallout 76 beta, to read an open letter from Bethesda that warns of not only bugs but other "spectacular issues" we may encounter within the game. It's not so much a PR note as an advance apology. It reminds me of Murray's letter to No Man's Sky fans just before that game launched. I wonder if Bethesda felt sick penning it.

I've just been dubious about this whole project since it was announced. An online-only Fallout game with no NPCs? A vast map, four times larger than Fallout 4′s? I would have loved to see a co-op option in Fallout 5, but this just doesn't sound true to the series at all. I hope I'm wrong. I'll dive into the beta this week to find out what I can.

The difference here is I don't expect Bethesda to make as many additions and improvements to Fallout 76 on the level of NMS.

That seems like a flimsy argument. Isn't the warning about bugs specifically about the beta?

I've played an hour of the beta, and I still have no idea if this game is going to work. I need to know what a fully kitted out crew of players can do to mess with other players. What's the end game? How elaborate can my interactions with other people get? Having those questions unanswered is maybe slightly similar to No Man's Sky -- especially if the answers are "you can't really do any of that stuff." But I would need to put 30 hours into it just to know for sure.

Fallout 76 will be less of a disapppontment because people already have low expectations

Literally the only resemblence between the launch of the 2 games that the article calls attention to is that both devs released open letters prior to launch lol. This is clickbait of the worst kind.

Would be good if Bethesda would finally get burned for half assing it for over a decade.

Lol what a dumbass article. Bethesda has been very detailed and it what this game is and isn't from the beginning. It it's not the game people wanted that a completely different story.

Lol @ writing this without even playing it.

Y'all want some impressions hit the OT. They've been generally postive.

who would think that

Bethesda already spelled out everything you're getting with Fallout 76, it's not a mystery box like NMS was

Not quite. Bethesda's problems are a different kind of slow-killing poison. The kind you see coming from a mile away. That's not NMS at all.

It's not going to turn out like No Mans Sky because Bethesda has a large consumer base waiting to digest anything and everything they put out. It's a tier of game that will do well and be received well regardless of the actual quality.

It's going to be something.
The mystery ingredient is players.
And I'm pretty sure Bethesda has no faith in 'em, and is looking forward to the shitstorm as much as the rest of us.

One thing is true. War. War never changes.

Not interested in the slightest on F76, but this reads as one of those Forbes contributor's articles we all know and love.

Who is actually hyped for fallout? Who actually thinks it will be good?

Really odd comparison, and I'm not sure why we're making threads from Forbes contributors. They're essentially glorified blog posts.

NMS was bad because of the lying, not because of the actual final product which probably would've been fine had they not made it look far better than it actually was.

Bethesda haven't really said 76 is going to be anything other than what it is, a Fallout world with friends. We can hope it'll be as well supported as NMS.

The Betheada apology definitely put me even more on edge than I already was. I'm in no rush to pick this one up.

I don't think it will be in proportions of what NMS has experienced. Fallout 4 is surprisingly still heavily played today considering how people usually talk about it. Also the survival, especially the multi one, is among most popular genre, even on mobile the crappiest one can be a sucess. But sure it won't be a Metacritic hit neither a top sellers for month. For me it's more a lazy way to fill two or three financial quarter with the lowest possible investment. But on the long run after patches and mods it could end to be a fun game to play with friends.

It's not going to be close to NMS levels but I am sure there's going to be a lot of posts this time next year saying, "It's a lot better now."

That's kind of a weird thing to say.
No Man's Sky was alright except for the fact that it was the Spore of 2016, which ended up feeling like the Fable of 2008. And the worse thing you could say about that game was that it was the Castlevania 2 of 2004.

Oh man that is a really rude comparison, and one that is more click bait than anything. Forbes online articles are honestly only a slightly above BuzzFeed in terms of journalistic standards, and this article is just further proves that point.

"NMS was hyped and they didn't deliver, but of course they couldn't and it made players feel betrayed. They are trying to manage expectations for Fallout 76, so I guess that is different... but not really. Still made ya click, right? Like, comment and subscribe for more." - This Article

Lol what a dumbass article. Bethesda has been very detailed and it what this game is and isn't from the beginning.

That's not quite accurate. Bethesda slowly trickled information about the game after its announcement. When it was first announced, people only knew that it was Fallout and that it had multiplayer. Bethesda didn't release any specific details about quests, NPCs, story, PvP, solo play, etc, until after.

We got that info pretty quickly after E3 in the No Clip doc.

I mean, people were way more hyped for NMS than F76, right? Also NMS promised something it couldn't deliver. Fallout 76 doesn't really seem comparable.

I think the main issue is gamers and fans of FO don't quite get what Bethesda are doing with the game...it's kind of like this is a toe dip (there's cash in them there hills) and it may backfire in a big way...

4 was an okay game but was not the step of game and experience that 3 or NV was. Why more when people are mighty thisrsty for ES.....

That said I like Bethesda in general and they have produced some solid SP offerings this gen , but in the space they ruled they now have stiff competition and need to up their game ....this is not upping thier game .
